Penallta 5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer

Next Saturday is our monthly 5KYW event at Penallta parkrun - it also happens to be Halloween so there may be some spooky fancy-dress involved (not compulsory, of course!) 👻 🎃 🧙🏼 💀

If you or someone you know is undergoing a cancer journey, come and have a chat to our friendly ambassadors, Charlotte, Siân, Gethin, Lisa, and Michelle, at the blue flag near the start line. If you would like company for your parkrun we can join you, you can walk or run, and there's no expectation to complete the whole 5k - just do what you can.

Evidence shows that moving more during your cancer treatment can really help with your recovery, so we're here to help. 🥰

Today some of our Ambassadors, Charlotte, Siân, and Cath, volunteered to join Siân Lewis (ABUHB Macmillan Lead Allied Health Professional for Cancer Services) at the Cancer Patient Experience at Bryn Meadows Golf Club. 😃

It was good to spread the word about 5KYW and to see ABUHB colleagues so interested in what we do, why we do it, and what the benefits of 5KYW are to individuals on their cancer journeys. 💙

Who knows - perhaps more 5KYW teams will spring up at parkruns in Gwent?! 😊

Next Saturday is our 1st birthday - this past year has flown by! 🎂🎉

Come to Penallta parkrun and celebrate with us - our friendly ambassadors will be there so come say hello, and if you want company for your parkrun we'll be there for you!

Moving more can really help when you're going through a cancer journey and parkrun is the perfect place to do this. You can walk or run (you don't need to complete the full course), or just come along for a chat to find out more.

We were blessed again with beautiful sunshine for our 5K Your Way at Penallta parkrun this morning.

Joining us for the first time was Hayden and his family. He smashed his first parkrun and we hope to welcome him back at the end of August 💙.

Thank you to our fabulous ambassadors Catherine Roberts , Michelle Morgan and Charlotte Johnson for flying the flag today. A big thank you as well to Penallta parkrun for hosting us 🙏🏾
