🟢 SYDIC AGM & Yearly Celebration – Everyone Welcome!

🔹On Wednesday 11th November, we’re holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and celebrating another year at Senghenydd Youth Drop-in Centre.

🔸But what actually is an AGM?

It’s a chance for us to share what we’ve been up to over the past year, celebrate the work happening at SYDIC and talk about our plans for the future.

It’s also an opportunity for the local community, parents, supporters and partner organisations to come along, see what we do and find out how they can get involved.

You don’t need to be a member or have any previous involvement with SYDIC to attend. Everyone is welcome!

We’re always keen to hear from people who want to support the centre, whether that’s volunteering, sharing ideas or becoming more involved in the running of the charity.

We’re also welcoming interest from anyone who would like to become a Director or Trustee. Stay tuned, a post will follow on what this involves.

We are so happy with the turn out over the last 2 nights for our Halloween festivities 🎃👻 as the Summer months are understandably quieter for us, it was amazing to have 30 young people join us last night at the disco!

Huge thanks to the one and only ‘Count Cookula’ 🍪 for bringing the tunes and the laughs! Wouldn’t be a SYDIC Disco without him! 🎶 Thanks to all the staff always working hard to provide for our young people of the valleys. And thank you to every single person who showed up 🖤

We are closed next week for half term but we hope to see you back on 4th Nov for the firework display at Senghenydd Rugby Club 🎆🎇

💚 What’s on at SYDIC? 💚

We’ve got plenty going on between now and Christmas! 🎃🎄

From Halloween fun and karaoke to arts and crafts, workshops and Christmas activities, there’s lots to get involved in over the next few months.

SYDIC has been part of the Aber Valley since 1997, offering local young people somewhere to meet up with friends, get involved in activities or just come along and hang out.

Despite the heatwave, Week 3 of our Summer Scheme has been brilliant. The young people stayed engaged, positive and full of energy throughout cooking sessions, sugar craft and our big trip to Folly Farm.Huge thanks to all the staff for delivering and organising another packed week, and to Aber Valley Community Council for their continued financial support — it genuinely makes a difference.

We also said goodbye to one of our workers, Esme, who is starting a new chapter in West Wales. Esme first came to Sydic as a young person, later returned to work with us while studying for her PGCE, and has been a fantastic part of the team. We wish her all the luck in the world for the future.

Folly Farm Trip – Important Info for Wednesday 12th August

With temperatures rising tomorrow, we are still going ahead with our trip to Folly Farm.

Please make sure your child comes with plenty of water, suncream, and a hat to keep them comfortable throughout the day.

We are aiming to leave at 8:15am, so please arrive in good time.

With the heat expected to peak in the late afternoon, we’ll be leaving Folly Farm around 3:30pm to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Week 2 has been buzzing. The young people have shown real confidence, stepped out of their comfort zones, and made new friendships throughout the week.

From paddle boarding to laser tag, bowling, Rec Rock, foot golf and mini golf, they’ve thrown themselves into everything with enthusiasm.

Massive thank you to Aber Valley Community Council for helping make these opportunities possible.
