Despite the heatwave, Week 3 of our Summer Scheme has been brilliant. The young people stayed engaged, positive and full of energy throughout cooking sessions, sugar craft and our big trip to Folly Farm.Huge thanks to all the staff for delivering and organising another packed week, and to Aber Valley Community Council for their continued financial support — it genuinely makes a difference.

We also said goodbye to one of our workers, Esme, who is starting a new chapter in West Wales. Esme first came to Sydic as a young person, later returned to work with us while studying for her PGCE, and has been a fantastic part of the team. We wish her all the luck in the world for the future.

Folly Farm Trip – Important Info for Wednesday 12th August

With temperatures rising tomorrow, we are still going ahead with our trip to Folly Farm.

Please make sure your child comes with plenty of water, suncream, and a hat to keep them comfortable throughout the day.

We are aiming to leave at 8:15am, so please arrive in good time.

With the heat expected to peak in the late afternoon, we’ll be leaving Folly Farm around 3:30pm to keep everyone safe and comfortable.

Week 2 has been buzzing. The young people have shown real confidence, stepped out of their comfort zones, and made new friendships throughout the week.

From paddle boarding to laser tag, bowling, Rec Rock, foot golf and mini golf, they’ve thrown themselves into everything with enthusiasm.

Massive thank you to Aber Valley Community Council for helping make these opportunities possible.

Week one of Summer Scheme has been buzzing. The young people have shown brilliant behaviour throughout — genuinely a credit to the community.
We’ve explored St Fagans, cracked clues in the Escape Rooms, belted out Karaoke, and gone full nostalgia with Retro Gaming.
Massive congrats to Cameron, who earned himself a free ticket to High Score Arcade in Newport after taking down a staff member in a tense air hockey showdown.

Summer Scheme is back!

Huge thanks to Aber Valley Community Council for helping us bring another year of fun and activities.

Registration is happening this week, and sessions run from the last week of July through to mid August.
