Rhyddid South East Wales

Rhyddid South East Wales We aim to quietly ensure that period poverty affects no woman in refuge in SE Wales We've decided to do something about this! And we really need your help!

You may recently have seen news reports that disadvantaged young women in the UK are missing school because they have started their period and find it hard to obtain sanitary products. We've signed up as local Coordinators for The Red Box Project, a charitable community group based in Portsmouth but with branches all over the UK. On behalf of the Project, we will be managing a red box filled with

free sanitary products which will be kept in schools locally. We'll liaise with the school and keep the box fully stocked. The key feature of the scheme is that young women who lack easy access to sanitary items are given as many as they need to see them through their period - not just one or two. Also, it has been designed to be sustainable, providing a reliable supply month after month after month. Who supplies the contents of the Red Box? An informal community of women, each of whom regularly contributes a little something towards it.
