Lodge of St Ilan

Lodge of St Ilan To increase the awareness of Freemasonry in general and in Caerphilly area in particular. To provide a means of communication and contact for new members.

Meetings are held at Caerphilly Masonic Centre on 2nd Tuesday of June (Installation), September, December, March, May. The Lodge of St Ilan 6624 had its Warrant issued on 4 February 1948 by UGLE and was Consecrated on 30 April 1948 by RWBro R P St John Charles, ProvGM, South Wales Eastern Division. The Lodge name 'St Ilan' is derived from Eglwysilan, a small hamlet at the top of the Aber Valley. E

glwysilan, which translated into english, means 'Church of St Ilan' and dates back to the 11th century. The Lodge Banner was presented by WBro E E Coleman in 1950. The Lodge motto is 'Cariad a Gwasanaeth' which when translated means 'Charity and Service'. The Lodge is actively involved in all aspects of Charity and is a great supporter of the Caerphilly & Bargoed Lodges Freemasonry in the Community initiative.
