This week we became 'Spooky Squirrels' with Halloween looming!

The squirrels came up with their own actions to the different Halloween characters (taken from the story 'Ten Little Monsters') and put them to Yellow Squirrel's song 'Spooky Sleeping Squirrels' (based on Hop Little Bunnies song).

For our second activity we read the story "Pumpkins Wear Spooky Pants" by Nina Night and the squirrels designed their own spooky pumpkin pants.

Together we all decorated our Squirrel icon ready for our new display board which is coming next week. All of our activities this week counted towards achieving our 'Get Creative' badge!

What a busy but brilliant creative session. Da iawn pawb!

Next week brings more spooky fun. Be there if you dare! Wooooooooo! (That's our best ghost impression if you hadn't guessed).

An amazing Scout weekend at Jubilee Scout Campsite - Maes gwersylla Sgowtiaid y Jiwbilî with 1st Cefn Fforest Scout Group and 1st Gilfach Scouts

The Scouts all mucked in with setting up camp, washing up, along with our hike to St Fagans and exploring.

We also had a pioneering competition, with the winning tripods holding over 40kg.

No 2nd Caerphilly Scout camp would be same with a song!

Don't feel blue that you're not at camp this weekend...feel green, yellow, red and brown instead!

Yellow squirrel was busy collecting leaves today in Ynysangharad Park for our new squirrel board and discovered the most beautiful leaves of all different shapes, colours and sizes. If you are wondering what to do this weekend why not collect some leaves and make some of your own nature art?

Squirrels are currently working towards the 'Get Creative' activity badge and nature art is part of it. We have found some great photos online to inspire your little ones. Post your nature art in the comments below...we would love to see them!

Yellow is the new Blue, (well in our Squirrels it is!)

Yellow Squirrels took her first session today as the new Squirrel team leader!

We had an exciting session using the conkers we collected last week.

Whilst the builders are inside carrying out essential repairs to the floor.

Parent volunteers have carried out another maintenance session outside.

Now the nights are drawing in, we will be focusing on some of the inside jobs in the store room.

If you are business in the Caerphilly area and looking for somewhere for a community volunteer day, with 2 Scout Huts and a Guides hut, there is also plenty of jobs to do!

According to our Scouts charcuterie is the best board game for games night, closely followed by Kids Against Maturity
