Tonight we travelled down to Swansea for a big rematch:
Kian Thomas (Caerphilly) vs Callum Gladdy (Premier)
Six months ago, these two met on our home show, where Callum took the win. Tonight was our chance at redemption.
Kian came into this fight off the back of a strong winning streak, full of confidence and in a great headspace. That said, we knew we couldn’t take anything for granted, we’d already been beaten by this opponent once before.
From the opening bell, Kian was outstanding. For me he won every round, showing sharp, intelligent work both on the inside and outside. He consistently caught Callum with clean shots, especially a sharp backhand that landed time and time again.
In the third round, Callum unfortunately complained of a shoulder injury, and the referee made the decision to stop the contest.
As a coach, I couldn’t be happier with Kian’s performance tonight. It was his best to date, his timing, sharpness, power, and confidence were all there. Everything came together perfectly on the night.
Massive respect to Callum, great effort and we wish him a speedy recovery.
A huge thank you to everyone who came down to support Kian, it means a lot. And special thanks to Paddy and Stu for all the hard work they’ve been putting into him in the gym.
Onwards and upwards 👊
