They’re here!! Nearly home.

🥳🥳🥳🥳

Cornwall was spotted from the ship some time just after 5am Thursday morning and the crew spent the day sailing around Cornwall’s coastline, with a lunch stop at Land’s End.

🌊🌊🌊🌊

In the Skipper’s words, “was going to be a rolly night at Portscatho” so they picked up a buoy in Falmouth for the final night aboard.

Today is the day Team Aventurus were due to arrive back in Fowey. No doubt the young people are delighted, but arrival is now expected for midday on Friday 2nd May.

In a life where everything is technologically connected with control just at our fingertips, nature and the wind have their own rules! Fighting Southerlies on the way back down has put the voyage just a little behind. Which allows precious extra days to make memories.

After a couple of days in and around Dublin, Team Aventurus arrived back at Milford Haven yesterday. The crew should be setting sail again on their last long leg about now, Wednesday early evening, taking them down past Lands End and to Portscatho lunchtime tomorrow to tidy the ship and enjoy one final evening together.

What a lifetime of experiences they’ve all built up on a wonderful trip. We’ll be waiting dockside Friday in Fowey to welcome them home - come join us!

Can we talk about these MASSIVE smiles while doing laundry, washing up, cleaning the loos and eating vegetables?!

Happy Earth Day 🌍 from Team Aventurus!

Our incredible journey from Cornwall to Scotland has taken us through some of the most breathtaking coastlines the UK has to offer. But along with the beauty, we’ve also seen the heartbreaking impact of plastic pollution, even in the most remote and unspoiled places.

As we’ve sailed, we’ve been taking water samples and recording our findings. The data we collect is part of the fight for cleaner seas and a healthier planet.

This Earth Day, we’re more motivated than ever to protect what we love. Every piece of plastic we prevent from entering the ocean matters. Let’s keep working for change. ♻️🌊⛵️

A huge shoutout to Lomo Watersport for their incredibly generous donation of sailing gloves for our epic voyage from Cornwall to Scotland and back!

We’re just leaving the breathtaking Scottish waters after an unforgettable leg of our journey, surrounded by wild, untamed beauty. Now setting our course for Northern Ireland as we begin the journey home. Feeling grateful, inspired, and well-equipped, all thanks to Lomo! ⛵️🧤

What a week!

Breathtaking lochs, picture postcard houses, plastic sampling, knots, navigation, hailstones, rainbows, highland cows, cold water swimming, Easter egg hunting, fun and laughter. Oh and pizza, mustn’t forget the pizza.

The Afterguard crew have had a changeover of Skipper’s Mate this week as John needed to leave unexpectedly and we thank him for all the experience and learning he imparted to Team Aventurus on Helen Mary R - as documented in the Trainee Reflective Journals in the Ships Logs here ➡️➡️ https://sailadventure.co.uk/shipslogs

They’ve now headed off back South, next stop Bangor, Northern Ireland

In amongst all of the sailing and sunsets, it is important to remember the scientific research the students are doing on behalf of one of their major sponsors - Probleu.

Plastic pollution is a huge concern and this voyage is taking samples of sea water which can be used to develop understanding as to the scale of the problem.

Not a breath of wind but lots of shipping around to learn collision regulations and keep active in the early hours.
