While feeding birds can be tempting, it can unintentionally harm both animals and visitors.

Following RSPB guidance, we're asking everyone to not feed the birds, as diseases can spread quickly when birds gather in large numbers.

Thanks to everyone who took part in Buxton's Big Spring Clean. Around 30 Buxton Town Team volunteers and members of the public blitzed the town centre from the Pavilion Gardens to the far end of Spring Gardens. David Haines of StoneGlass Exterior Cleaning jetwashed benches, bins and signs while window cleaner Tom Wilkinson and partner Claudia of Tw window cleaning also cleaned signs around the town. Volunteers in Harpur Hill joined in by painting roadside railings.

TODAY’S THE DAY!!! Come and help us clean up our town… meet at Turner’s Memorial from 10am this morning 😁

BIG SPRING CLEAN - this Saturday
Can you help? Everyone is welcome to come along to lend a hand on Saturday 25th April, meeting at Turners Memorial, from 10am.
We have cleaning materials and some equipment available, but volunteers are encouraged to bring anything they think would be useful such as buckets and rags.

Here’s a round up from our Jan 13th meeting👍🏻

⭐️ Buxton Town Team

For the first half of the meeting we had a very informative and entertaining presentation from Steven & Lesley Caddy from Buxton Town Team.

They told us about all the amazing projects and activities that volunteers have been involved in since 2012. Activities include community gardens, litter picking, making Christmas decorations for the town, running the weekly market, travel etc

The Team has received ‘The Kings Award For Voluntary Service.’ Some of our members are already volunteers but if anyone else would like to become involved, membership is only £1!

Many thanks to Steven and Lesley for coming to talk to us 👏

⭐️ Main Meeting

⁃ Our President Alison wished all members a Happy New Year 🥳

⁃ A reflection on December’s events including the Christmas Party, Christmas Dinner at The Church Inn and Carols by Candlelight which raised £152.63 for our nominated charities 👏

⁃ News from National Federation - annual subs for 2026 to increase to £54 & WI Life magazine will now be issued quarterly

⁃ Derbyshire Federation - Spring Council Meeting online 3rd March, please speak to our Secretary Ann if you would like to attend and you will be sent a link 🔗 to join

⁃ Diary dates will be confirmed in a separate post but some headline dates - Wed 28th Jan 10.30, Coffee Morning - Fri 20th Feb 7pm, Bingo Night - Sat 21st March 7pm, Quiz Night, Cavendish Golf ⛳️ Club - Thu 23rd April, County Quiz, venue to be confirmed
