Tuesday morning’s Memory Café had a slightly different feel. There was still plenty of excitement with the return of one of our brilliant entertainers, Jimmy the Fiddler, whose amazing tap dancing and electric music on the violin and mandolin filled the room with energy and joy.

However, it was also Lee’s last day running the café after the past two and a half years. His time with the café has been truly fulfilling, marked by his enthusiasm, warmth, and genuine care for everyone who walks through the door. He will be greatly missed.

Lee now hands the café over to the capable hands of Sussex Support Service, with Margaret, Tom, and their team, and we wish them every success as they continue this wonderful work.

Lee would like to thank his incredible team of volunteers, along with the sponsors and entertainers who have all contributed to the café’s success. It has truly been an amazing few years.

The rain poured down Tuesday morning, but everyone battled through the wind to get to the café. The warmth inside, and the friendships that have grown since the café began, were truly felt and remain very strong.
The entertainment was a music quiz from the 1950s, along with questions from The Chase, read by Vicki.
We had so much fun, and it was amazing to see the depth of knowledge in the room. In the end, Joyce’s team took the prize over Pat’s team, winning 38 to 35.
Thank you to everyone who took part, and we look forward to seeing you all again next week.

Sunshine set the scene on Tuesday as the Memory Café threw open its doors to the delightful sound of Susanna’s singing. With the room buzzing and almost full, she launched into “Tammy” by Debbie Reynolds; a much loved favourite of Lee, and instantly had everyone smiling.
Susanna then treated us to a wonderful trip down memory lane, filling the morning with timeless classics from the 50s, 60s and 70s. A true favourite at the café, she once again had toes tapping and hearts warmed. A huge thank you to her for such a special performance.
Add in teas, coffee, cold drinks, our resident dog, Jess, Dee’s delicious homemade cakes, and Ann’s ever-popular quiz, and it was another joyful morning at the Memory Café – a welcoming place full of music, laughter and good company for all.

On Tuesday morning, the Memory Café comes to life.
Friends gather, familiar faces and new ones, all sharing the simple joy of being together.
There’s conversation, smiles, and the comfort of good company, a place where everyone feels welcome.
Today, there’s something special.
Happiness in Motion, led by the lovely Ali, brings energy into the room.
From the comfort of our chairs, we stretch, move, and gently exercise our bodies.
Arms lift, feet tap, shoulders roll, all at our own pace.
Laughter fills the room.
Someone misses a move, someone else invents one, and that’s perfectly fine.
There’s no right or wrong here, just movement, encouragement, and fun.
As the exercises come to an end, there’s a sense of achievement and warmth.
Breaths slow, smiles remain, and the room feels lighter.
Then comes the perfect finish to a lovely morning:
a nice cup of tea, coffee, Dee's homemade cakes and more time to chat.
Stories are shared, friendships are strengthened, and everyone leaves feeling uplifted.
At the Memory Café, it’s not just about remembering,
it’s about connection, laughter, movement, and enjoying each other’s company.
A simple Tuesday morning, made special together.

We had a really lovely get together at the café today. It was cold outside, but beautifully warm and welcoming inside. We enjoyed a general discussion about what we all did over Christmas and New Year, sharing our stories and even learning a bit more about traditional Christmas games.
A small but cheerful group braved the cold, sunny, snow-crusted morning, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our time together.
Karen also joined us with beautiful Jess, the Golden Lab, who patiently waited for his little cheese mini biscuits.
A big thank you to everyone who came along and supported the café today.
