πŸ¦” Daisy’s short story! 🌟

We love a happy ending, which was the outcome for the little girl hog named Daisy, from Greenmount! πŸ¦”β€οΈ

Daisy was brought to us after being spotted out in the day 🚨
She was quite poorly and weighed in at a tiny 395g. πŸ’”

πŸ”¬ Faecal πŸ’©analysis revealed that poor Daisy was battling both Crenosoma (lungworm) and Fluke 🦠 parasites. No wonder she was feeling under the weather! 😰

πŸ’Š We started her on the necessary medications and pain relief to clear those nasty internal 🦠 parasites.

Daisy proved to be a fighter! She made a very quick recovery and definitely didn't miss any meals πŸ˜‚... growing to a whopping, healthy 806g!πŸ¦”

✨ 18/05/2026 Daisy was officially microchipped then released back to her garden on21/05/2026! 🌳

Huge thanks to Catherine, who looked out for Daisy and brought her to us. Daisy is now happily back in Catherine’s garden in Greenmount, doing what hedgehogs do best. 🏑🌱
Thank you all for your continued support that makes rescues like Daisy's possible! πŸ™πŸ’›

On 23/03/2026, Chunk was the 1st of 3 hedgehogs brought to us by Martyn & Jodie in Summerseat. πŸ¦”πŸ‘
He was a big lad, weighing in at a hefty 951gβ€”hence the name! πŸ˜‰
Unfortunately, he also ended up being the last of the three to return home. πŸ˜”
Chunk was battling internal parasites 🦠 and had to be treated for Crenosoma, Capillaria, and Fluke. During his treatment, his weight dropped down to 723g. We couldn’t quite work out why he stayed so huffy and completely off his food...
Then, on 13/04/2026, we noticed something thick oozing down the left side of his face. 😰 Straight off to the vets we went! πŸš—πŸ₯
A first look didn't make it entirely clear what was going on, but after a full assessment, they discovered an abscess deep in his ear canal. 🩺
We brought him back to the rescue, and after a full course of antibiotics and pain medication, he completely transformed!☺️
He calmed right down, completely regained his appetite, and bounced back to a fantastic, healthy 1018g for his release on 19/05/2026 βš–οΈπŸ₯³. He was with us that long, Martyn said he forgot we still had Chunk πŸ˜‚πŸ€£!
Martyn kindly sent us some photos of Chunk back home where he belongs, nestled back into his wild home. πŸ₯°
These are at the end of the reel! πŸ“Έ

Dash is feeling much better now πŸ™β˜ΊοΈ.
He has finally got his appetite back since his amputation and is filling out nicely.
It’s so nice πŸ₯° to hear πŸ‘‚ him munching away on Purina and slurping his water. πŸ’§
We’re really pleased with his progress πŸ’―πŸ¦”πŸ€Ž

πŸ‘€ Trevor – Thank you so much for popping by and dropping off some Purina biscuits! It was lovely to catch up and see you again! πŸ˜‰πŸ‘‹
πŸ‘‡
πŸ‘ Susannah & Linda P – Thanks for the Safe 4 disinfectant and the much-needed Royal Canin Puppy Mousse from our updated Amazon wishlist! 🧴🍼 πŸ’•

πŸ™ Can you help our hungry babies? πŸ˜‹πŸ¦”πŸ™
We only have a couple of tins left. 😒

If anyone else 🀞 would like to donate some more Puppy Mousse or Kitten Mousse, the babies would be really grateful! πŸ₯£πŸ€Ž
Every single tin makes a huge difference to their vulnerable little lives. πŸ¦”πŸ€Žβ€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

Apologies again for the lack of posts lately. πŸ—“οΈ It’s been a busy time here with releases, new arrivals, and vet visitsβ€”more updates on this to follow soon! πŸ‘€

For now, though, we wanted to share some exciting news: a couple of weeks ago, I officially completed my 2-part (theory & practical) professional training and certification in microchip implanting for small mammals! πŸŽ“βœ¨πŸ¦”

As you can see in the pic below ⬇️, I am now fully qualified and competent to provide this service for our rescued hedgehogs. πŸ¦”

By chipping the hedgehogs we release back into the wild, we are contributing to gathering much-needed data on our local hedgehog populations. πŸŒπŸ“Š

Each microchip provides a permanent, unique identifier for every hedgehog we help, ensuring we can recognise them should they ever return to us here, or at another rescue, in the future. πŸ”πŸ†”
We are also registered on several database sites, which allows us to search for hedgehogs coming to us that are already chipped.

Since 18/05/2026, all hedgehogs arriving have been (and will continue to be) scanned on entry. πŸ’―πŸ§
Already, we’ve had a hedgehog come to us that had previously been chipped at another wildlife rescue! πŸ₯♻️

We’re proud to continue our professional development in this area as we continue our work in the care & rehabilitation of hedgehogs. πŸ¦”πŸ’ͺ

More to follow on our CPD in the coming months! πŸ˜‰ As always, thanks for your ongoing support. πŸ¦”πŸ€Ž
