📣📣🦔 QUIZ NIGHT FOR THE HEDGEHOGS! 📣📣

We’re so proud to announce a fantastic quiz night in aid of Ramsbottom Hedgehog 🦔 Care & Rehabilitation, hosted by Ramsbottom Rotary at XLII Ramsbottom Café Bar (aka Bar 42)!

Join us Thursday 27th August 2026 for a fun-filled evening where you can put your general knowledge to the test while supporting a cause close to our hearts 🦔🥰💕. (We’ll be there - it would be nice to meet you guys in person!)

It’s also a great time to get in an evening out on a school night before term begins 😉👌

Don’t have a team? No problem! This quiz is just for fun, and we’ll happily put you on a table with other friendly quizzers on the night.

It’s an early evening made sure it'll be an early finish so no excuses of “I’ve got work in the morning” and certainly no excuse of “it’s a school night” 🤣😂 don’t worry, you’ll be home at a decent time—plus, as it's not a school night, there's even more reason to come along and enjoy yourself!😉

The money raised will go directly towards providing vital care, medication, and treatments for Hedgehogs 🦔🦔in need.💕

A massive thank you to XLII Ramsbottom Café Bar & Ramsbottom Rotary for their amazing support in making this happen!

Well, here’s a story! Talk about a special delivery! 🚚📦🦔

On 22/07/2026, a FedEx delivery driver (Mark Dobson) turned up at our door 🚪📦. He asked if we remembered him from a couple of months ago when he delivered some gloves to us (during that visit, he’d noticed our feeding stations, which led to a chat about hedgehogs! 🦔💬).

Mark told us he’d just found a hedgehog 🦔on Bolton Rd West, near the school! When I asked where the little guy was, he said he was in the cup holder of his FedEx delivery van! ☕🚚
Mark noticed he was dragging his leg, so he brought him straight to us and named him FedEx 📦🦔. He weighed just 114g ⚖️.

On assessment, we found his foot was swollen with tight twine wrapped around his toe and claw 🩹. We carefully removed it and gave him some pain relief. It wasn't long before he was tucking into some Royal Canin Puppy Mousse 😋🍲!

Because of his tiny weight, we also put him on a heat mat 🌡️ and gave him formula packed with extra vitamins and supplements for a couple of weeks 🍼✨.

Thank you to Mark & Beverley for their generous donations towards FedEx’s care.

He is doing amazingly well now and has gone out to foster care to fatten up with Jackie! 🏡🤎📦🦔

Hoppy the super mum! 🦔💖 – Update!
Some of you may remember Hoppy arriving here at the rescue with her finders, Sarah & Ian, on 21/06/2026, weighing just 760g ⚖️.

She had been spotted limping on their camera, so on arrival, we gave her some pain relief and cleaned her up 🧼🩹.

Just 3 days later came a huge shock! 👶🦔 Hoppy gave birth to 5 babies. Sadly, 2 were stillborn and 1 passed away after just 3 days 🌈, but Basil & Peony were the brave survivors 🌿🌸.

Once it was safe to examine her, we noticed swelling on her foot, though we couldn't tell if her toe or claw was broken 🩺. We rushed her straight to Medivet, where they confirmed a fracture and removed the top part of her toe 🏥.

We quickly got her back to her babies so she could keep nursing 🍼.

As if being a new mum 💕and losing three hoglets 😢 wasn't enough, poor Hoppy was also dealing with internal parasites 🪱. We had to delay her parasite treatment until her babies were bigger, but she proved to be a real fighter 💪!

Hoppy responded really well to all her treatments, antibiotics, and pain relief 💊✨. Her weight increased to 1017g (without 5 babies inside her!)

We’re pleased to share that she was fully recovered and released back into Sarah & Ian’s garden in Holcombe Brook on 10/08/2026 🏡🌱!

More updates to follow on Basil🌿 & Peony 🌸soon! 🦔🦔✨
