Join us for our new event, the Halloween Rail Trail on Saturday, October 10th.
Get your best fancy dress costumes ready and join us for a fun-filled, family-friendly 5-mile sponsored walk. Starting at Bury East Lancashire Railway Station at 5pm, we will make our way to Ramsbottom Station, enjoying the atmosphere, the costumes and the community spirit along the way. Once we reach Ramsbottom, we will hop aboard the train and travel back to Bury together, arriving at approximately 7:30pm.
We are asking every participant to aim to raise £35 in sponsorship to celebrate our 35th birthday. For those fundraising superheroes who go the extra mile, our Super Fundraisers are anyone who raises £350 or more. As a special thank you, they will receive a pumpkin-picking voucher for Jersey Girls.

In 2025, Elliott aged 13 was admitted to Manchester Children's Hospital Critical Care Burns Unit after a bad accident on his bike. One year on and he is all healed. He got straight back on his bike to ride the hardest 55 miles possible on the West Highland Way from Crianlarich, through Glen Coe, up the Devils Staircase to Fort William, wild camping along the way in Scotland to raise funds for Bury Hospice.
On his Go Fund Me page, he said: “I want to raise money to benefit Bury Hospice, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means a lot to me and the families that are supported by this wonderful place.”
Elliott’s mum said: “Words are beyond me for how in awe I am of my son. He has just got back home from four full on days of cycling on the gruelling West Highland Way in horizontal rain to challenge himself and raise money for the amazing Bury Hospice. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated, it really did help push him up those never ending hills. He has achieved the most spectacular amount of money for the wonderful Bury Hospice thanks to our generous family and friends.
Elliott’s Go Fund Me page is still active for anyone wishing to donate: https://www.gofundme.com/f/riding-the-west-highland-way-for-bury-hospice
