The sun came out for today's rededication service at Whitehead gardens.

Whitehead gardens is looking colourful for the rededication service tomorrow, 9th June, starting with a service in St Anne's at 10.30am, followed by tours of the gardens and a tree planting.

Whitehead Gardens Rededication Service will take place on Tuesday 9th June starting with a service in St Anne's church at 10.30am, followed by a tree planting and tours of the gardens.
The Gardens were created in 1950 by the Whitehead family as a memorial to the 7 people who lost their lives when a V1 bomb landed on a row of cottages on Chapel St on Christmas Eve 1944. The gardens have been renovated in a project lead by Tottington & Bury West Rotary Club working with Bury Council, Proffitts and pupils from both Tottington Primary & Tottington High School, with funding from National Lottery Heritage Fund and Bury Council.

The Rotary Club of Tottington & Bury West have been involved with Bury Council & the local schools in regenerating Whitehead Gardens, with a rededication planned for 9th June. We are looking to contact relatives of the Whitehead family or anyone else who was impacted by the bomb which destroyed the houses that stood in what is now Whitehead Gardens. Please contact the club if you can help trace any of these relatives.
