📣 SPACE - Week 6 🚀🌿❤️

This week saw the last session of our SPACE programme for this group of young people 🥺

The weather wasn't on our side 🌧 so we decided to head out on the Sunnywood Minibus 🚐 and made our way over to Salford Museum & Art Gallery 🎨

There, we explored the Victorian Gallery 🖼, the latest artwork on show in the exhibition space and Lark Hill Place - Salford's very own Victorian street 🤩 with its original shopfronts and objects 🌟

Once done, we made our way back to the Hub 🌿❤️ where we enjoyed s'mores around the fire 😋🍡🔥

All this whilst reflecting on the amazing time we've had together over the past few weeks and the many things we have learnt about ourselves 🤩🚀🌟🌿❤️

📣 Kindling Kids are AWESOME!! 🤩🌿❤️

Tonight, to celebrate Halloween 🎃, we made some spooky crafts 😱 We made black cats 🐈‍⬛️, scary spiders 🕷, floating ghosts 👻 and witch's hats 🧙‍♀️ whilst enjoying hot chocolate with marshmallows 😋

We then enjoyed a spooky walk through the woods 🌳 in the rain 🌧 where we spotted lots of fungi 🍄 and a frog 🐸

Once done, we made our way back to the Hub 🌿❤️ for some more Halloween treats 🍬

What a thoroughly spooky adventure! 👻🌿❤️

📣 WHAT A NIGHT! 🌙✨💚

WOW! What an incredible evening at Burrs Country Park for the first LET’s Do Lights! festival.

Transforming Burrs Country Park into a celebration of light, creativity, adventure, community and wellbeing!

From illuminated trails and spectacular projections to Silent Disco Hike Adventures, live performances, storytelling, creative workshops, music, movement and so much more - it was wonderful to see people of all ages coming together to experience the outdoors in a completely different way. 🎶🎨🔦🌳

Finding creative, exciting and sometimes unexpected ways to encourage people to embrace the outdoors is exactly what The Sunnywood Project is about - connecting with others and experiencing the benefits of the outdoors for their mental, physical and social wellbeing. 💚

A HUGE THANK YOU!

To our incredible volunteers, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, throughout the evening and beyond. Events like this simply wouldn't happen without their enthusiasm, dedication and willingness to get stuck in!

📣 SPACE Week 5 🚀🌿❤️

Social action was the order of the day this week 👊🏻💪🏻 as our young people helped to prepare one of the sites for our LET’s Do Lights! event 🤩 We cleared the brambles, shovelled some gravel 🪏, pulled up the balsam 🌸 and swept the whole site 🧹

After lunch, we made our way to the river 💦 where we skimmed rocks 🪨, climbed trees 🌳 and paddled along the water's edge 💧 before heading back to the Hub 🌿❤️ to play some games 🎲

Phew! What a busy day! 🤩

📣 SPACE 🚀🌿❤️ Week 4

When the weather is bleak, where do we go? Over to the beautiful NT Holcombe Moor & Stubbins Estate of course 🌧🤭

We started our journey at Buckden Woods 🌳 where we spotted a huge array of fungi 🍄 from the Amethyst Deceiver which is a stunning shade of purple 💜 to Porcelain Fungus which looked like tiny white ghosts 👻

From there, we headed right across the Moors as the mist & fog descended 😶‍🌫️ Despite visibility being incredibly poor, we marvelled at the expansive space in front of us 🤩 Some of us even managed to climb the trig and struck a pose at the highest point on the hill 😎

As the weather changed 🌧, we made our way down the hill to the minibus 🚐 and back to the Hub 🌿❤️ for a spot of lunch 😋 before heading to the pond to feed the ducks 🦆

A wholesome day all round 🤩🌿🌟
