💛 Carers Week is here! 💛

Do you help look after a partner, parent, child, friend, neighbour or family member who couldn’t manage without your support?

If the answer is yes, then this week is for YOU.

Being an unpaid carer can often feel thankless, exhausting and isolating at times. This week is about recognising everything you do, celebrating the difference you make, and making sure carers know they are valued.

If you live in Bury or the surrounding areas, please come along to one of our Carers Week events. Whether you’re already registered with Bury Carers Hub or have never accessed support before, you’d be very welcome.

There’ll be opportunities to meet other carers, enjoy some refreshments, have a chat, find out what support is available and most importantly, be recognised for the incredible role you play every day.

Sometimes carers don’t even realise they are carers — they see themselves as a husband, wife, son, daughter, parent or friend just doing what needs to be done.

This week is a chance to put the spotlight on YOU. 💛

Too many unpaid carers in Bury are still hidden in plain sight.

A husband supporting his wife through cancer.
A daughter managing appointments and medications.
A parent awake all night caring for a child with additional needs.
A friend checking in every single day.

They don’t call themselves carers.
They just carry on.

And because they don’t identify with that word, many are missing out on support, respite, financial advice and emotional help until they reach breaking point.

As Carers Co-production Coordinator at Bury Carers Hub, I want to better understand the REAL challenges unpaid carers are facing across Bury — because things need to change.

Not just:
❌ How many carers are registered
❌ How many leaflets were handed out
❌ How many events were attended

But:
✅ Are carers actually being heard?
✅ Are they getting support early enough?
✅ Are services working for real people in real life?
✅ Are carers struggling silently while trying to hold everything together?

So this is also a message to professionals across the Bury locality 👇

If you come across somebody supporting another person who couldn’t manage without them, please point them in our direction.

Sometimes one conversation can change somebody’s entire experience of caring. 💙
