πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ 100 Miles for Veterans into Logistics ⛰️

On Friday 12 June, Steve "Puck" Parkin will take on an incredible challenge, cycling 100 miles around the Lake District to raise funds for Veterans into Logistics.

By taking on this challenge, Puck is helping us continue our mission of supporting veterans into sustainable careers within the logistics sector.

As a charity, we rely on fundraising, grants and donations to continue providing the training, qualifications and employment opportunities to veterans across the UK. Every contribution helps us support more veterans and continue changing lives through meaningful employment.

A huge thank you to Puck for choosing to support Veterans into Logistics. We wish him the very best of luck for the challenge ahead! πŸ’ͺ

πŸŽ–οΈ RAF Veteran Kevin Morgan Back Behind the Wheel πŸš›

After serving in the RAF Regiment as a Gunner, Kevin Morgan completed operational tours of Iraq and Afghanistan before a serious back injury eventually brought his military career to an end.

Like many veterans, transitioning to civilian life wasn't easy. Although Kevin found work after leaving the Armed Forces, he later found himself unemployed and claiming Universal Credit, unsure of what his next step would be.

That changed when his work coach introduced him to Veterans into Logistics.

Today, Kevin is employed by Hovis as an HGV driver and has regained the stability and security he was searching for.

πŸ’¬ "The job at Hovis has given me a sense of security for my family and the feeling of being back in work is amazing."

Kevin credits Veterans into Logistics with helping him overcome what felt like a dead end and providing a clear route back into employment.

πŸ’¬ "In the space of four months, from my first phone call to arranging my medical, tests and even putting me in contact with Hovis, Veterans into Logistics changed my life for the better."

A massive thank you to the Department for Work and Pensions - DWP and in particular Gary Forsyth.
Also, a huge thank you to Hovis and in particular Tom Hill for providing Kevin with the opportunity to begin his new career in logistics.

Stories like Kevin's are why we do what we do. Supporting veterans into sustainable employment doesn't just change one life – it helps rebuild confidence, stability and a brighter future for the whole family.

D-Day Landings πŸš’πŸŽ–οΈ

This week, we remember the courage, sacrifice and determination of those who stormed the beaches in the D-Day landings on 6 June 1944.

The beaches, towns and countryside of Normandy that many of us now visit on holidays were once the scene of one of the most significant military operations in history. Thousands of young men crossed the Channel knowing the risks, fighting for the freedoms we enjoy today.

As we reflect on their bravery, we remember all those who never returned home and honour the legacy they left behind.

Lest we forget.

Crossing the finish line was a great achievement but the most rewarding part was knowing that every mile helped raise awareness and funds for Veterans into Logistics. Events like these remind us of the power of community, teamwork and coming together for something bigger than ourselves.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported, donated and cheered us on throughout the journey. Your encouragement helped keep us moving every step of the way.

⚑ Changes to electric van regulations confirmed

New legislation confirmed last week marks a significant step forward for the future of electric vehicles within the logistics sector.

From June 2026, 4.25-tonne electric vans will be brought in line with 3.5-tonne diesel vans, removing unnecessary regulatory burdens that previously treated many electric vans like HGVs due to battery weight alone.

The changes are expected to make it easier and more practical for operators to transition towards cleaner, zero-emission fleets by reducing additional costs and administration.

As the logistics sector continues to evolve, clear and consistent regulations will play an important role in supporting innovation, sustainability and future investment across the industry.

🌟🌟 Veteran Success Story: Scott Forbes (Link Below) 🌟🌟

After serving nine years in the Royal Marines, including deployments to the Falklands, Northern Ireland and Norway, Scott's life took him across the world in search of adventure and opportunity.

But after losing the tourism business he had spent years building and returning to the UK at 64, Scott found himself facing an uncertain future.

Determined not to give up, he reached out to Veterans into Logistics, and with funding from Asda Logistics Services and support from our team, Scott completed his HGV Class 1 training and passed first time, opening the door to a new career in logistics.

πŸ’¬ "I love my new career and the fact I'm in charge of my own destiny."

Scott's story is a reminder that it's never too late to learn new skills, start a new chapter, and build a brighter future.

A huge thank you to Asda Logistics Services for funding Scott's training and helping us continue supporting veterans into sustainable employment.
