We're delighted to have funded a brand-new purple wheelchair for the Cardiology Unit.

The wheelchair will be used by the Cath Lab team to help patients travel comfortably back to the front of the hospital after their treatment, making it easier for them to be collected and head home.

As the Cardiology Unit is quite a distance from the hospital entrance, this simple addition will make a real difference to patients when they need it most.

We're proud to support improvements that help make the patient journey a little easier and more comfortable.

During Baby Loss Awareness Week, we are highlighting some of our amazing supporters who make such a huge difference to our neonatal bereavement team.

One of our valuable supporters Fred Power raised an amazing £1020 last month by hosting an annual charity golf day. Fred has been supporting My WiSH for the last 2 years and has in total raised £2094.99 for neonatal bereavement. We simply can’t thank Fred enough for his continued support.

Fred said:
"Words cannot express how proud I am of how wonderfully our golf day came together, nor how deeply grateful I am for everyone who stood with us. It is my greatest hope that the love and support we've built in this annual event will reach forward to comfort and guide other as they navigate their own hardest days of loss."

This Play in Healthcare Week, we're celebrating the amazing play specialists at the West Suffolk Hospital and all the paediatric teams that go above and beyond for our young people.

Through our Wish Upon A Star Children's Appeal, My WiSH Charity helps fund resources that bring comfort, distraction and joy to young patients when they need it most. From play activities that reduce anxiety before treatment to creating spaces where children can simply be children, your support helps make every hospital stay a little brighter.

Play isn't just fun. It's a powerful tool that helps children cope, communicate and heal.

Thank you to our amazing play specialists, healthcare teams and supporters who help create moments of happiness for children and families across West Suffolk every day.

Back in July, Sam West took on the Snowdon Marathon in memory of his daughter, Hazel.

When Sam arrived in Wales, he was told the marathon had been cancelled due to the extreme weather conditions. But that wasn’t going to stop him. Instead, Sam went ahead and completed the gruelling challenge in an incredibly impressive 7 hours and 28 minutes.

All the money raised will go towards supporting the bereavement suite in the maternity ward, helping to provide a more comfortable and supportive environment for families during an incredibly difficult time.

A huge thank you to Sam for taking on such an incredible challenge in memory of Hazel, and for raising such a fantastic amount.

Your support really will make a huge difference to so many families.

A huge thank you to Gemma O’Brien, who completed the Norfolk Coastal Trail Half Marathon at the weekend in a very impressive 2 hours and 55 minutes.

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ CAMBRIDGE HALF MARATHON – CHARITY PLACES AVAILABLE! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

My WiSH Charity has 30 charity places available for this hugely popular event, taking place on 14th March 2027.

The general sale opened today and sold out within just a few hours, so this is your chance to secure a place while supporting patients, families and staff across the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.

All we ask is that each runner commits to raising a minimum of £450 for My WiSH Charity.
