Enhancing care and support for patients 💜 Every single penny makes a massive difference.

A registered charity since 1995, My WiSH Charity now runs several big events a year in addition to us providing support to our fantastic fundraisers in the community. Through our charitable trust status, you can choose whether to support the whole hospital or a specific ward, piece of equipment, campaign or in memory of someone.

Sam Holmes, 47, from Long Melford, became the first patient at West Suffolk Hospital to undergo surgery using the CMR Surgical Versius robotic system.

After being diagnosed with gallstones, she agreed to have her gallbladder removed by consultant surgeon Mr Krashna Patel. Sam had been suffering from severe pain and nausea that affected her work, family life and hobbies. She said she was excited to take part in the hospital's first robotic procedure and felt fully informed about the operation.

The surgery took place on 5 May, and Sam returned home the same evening. She described the experience as "life-changing", with immediate relief from her symptoms, minimal scarring and a quicker recovery than traditional surgery. Within a week, she was able to work from home.

A long-time supporter of West Suffolk Hospital, Sam praised the staff and expressed her gratitude to My WiSH Charity for helping to fund the Versius robot. She hopes more people will donate to the charity's robotic surgery appeal so that other patients can benefit from the same advanced treatment and positive experience that she had.

It is a pleasure to work with this amazing group. As a charity, our aim is to enhance care and their blankets and bears really do do just that 🧶💜

Happy 7th birthday to our Blanketeers! 🧶🎈

This week we celebrated seven years of the Blanketeers – a wonderful group of volunteers, patients and local people who generously share their knitting skills to support patients and families.

Supported by My WiSH Charity, they create blankets and bears for patients receiving end-of-life care.

These handmade gifts provide comfort during difficult times and can become treasured keepsakes for loved ones.

This year alone, the Blanketeers made an incredible 700 blankets.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the group over the past seven years.

Your kindness makes a real difference to patients and families when they need it most 💛

Bury Abbey Rotary Club Celebrates Record-Breaking Charity Fundraising

On June 2nd, the Bury Abbey Rotary Club hosted a vibrant celebration evening at the historic Guildhall, coinciding with Volunteers Week, to honour their remarkable charity fundraising achievements for the 2025/2026 year. The club proudly announced that they raised an impressive £80,000, with over £40,000 generated from the popular Classic Car Show and £29,000 from the St Edmund’s Day Dinner.

The event was a gathering of club members and representatives from the 25 charities that have benefitted from the club's generous contributions. Sponsored by Ashtons Legal, the evening featured refreshments and provided a lively atmosphere for networking and collaboration.

Melanie Lesser, President of Bury Abbey Rotary, expressed the club's unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

“We have been celebrating the club’s 20th Anniversary this year and are delighted that the club has grown in members from 15 and now boasts over 45 members and growing each year. We are excited to host a variety of fundraising events in the next 12 months, including the Classic Car Show, a golf day, a black-tie St Edmunds Day Dinner, and an online auction. We also support international projects including End Polio Now and the purchase of Shelter Boxes" she shared.

Alan Brown, Chair of Community Service and Hayley Coull Vice President took the attendees through a journey of twenty years of fundraising highlighting the many projects that have been undertaken over the years with two rules - Serve the Community and have fun doing it!

The photos by Rotarian Jamie Dalrymple show the stalls set up in the Guildhall and all those attending in the gardens of the Guildhall In Bury St Edmunds.

We were absolutely delighted to welcome retired racehorse Man Of Promise to Newmarket Community Hospital this week.

His visit brought so many smiles to patients, staff and visitors, creating some truly special moments throughout the day. It was wonderful to see the comfort, connection and happiness that animals can bring, and Man of Promise was a perfect gentleman from start to finish.

A huge thank you to Godolphin for their continued support of My WiSH Charity and for helping make meaningful experiences like this possible for our patients and community.

This includes the items below that we have proudly purchased for West Suffolk Maternity💜

A huge thank you to for their generous donation of TENS machines, birthing combs and acupressure balls 💜
