Fullers Mill combines a beautiful site of light dappled woodland with a plantsman’s paradise of rare and unusual shrubs, perennials, lilies and marginal plants. The garden was created by the late Bernard Tickner MBE (1924-2017). He moved to Fullers Mill in 1958 and spent over 50 years creating the garden you see today from rough scrub and woodland. In 2004 he and his wife Bess donated the garden t

o The Fullers Mill Trust, a registered charity, which was established to manage the garden and to ensure its future. In 2013, the garden was gifted to Perennial, for its long-term preservation. Head Gardener Annie Dellbridge and her team of gardeners and volunteers now maintain the garden for the enjoyment of visitors from April to October.

Networking Event for Self-employed and Solo Workers in Horticulture 🌿

Working alone has its benefits, but it can also mean missing out on the day-to-day conversations, support and connections that come from being part of a team.

We're hosting a friendly networking event at Helmingham Hall Gardens on Thursday 23 July. It's an opportunity to meet others working across horticulture, share experiences of working independently and learn more about the support available from Perennial.

There will be talks from our Director of Services Helen Waddington and we'll also be joined by Head Gardener Brendan Arundel for a tour of the gardens.

If you work in Horticulture and are self-employed, work independently or spend much of your working day on your own, we'd love to welcome you. Places are limited, so please book ahead: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/perennials-networking-event-for-solo-workers-in-horticulture-tickets-1991684890121

We are delighted to congratulate Perennial Chairman Paul Rochford on being awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours for services to horticulture 🌿

Paul has long been a strong advocate for the people who work across horticulture, and this honour reflects his contribution to the industry.

Commenting on the award, Paul said:
"This is a great honour which I am very proud to accept. I am always keen to promote the importance of the horticulture industry and I hope that this award will help to emphasise the vital role that it plays in our lives. We need to value, support and encourage the people working in green industries and I think that this award will help me to continue to highlight the significance of their contribution."

Congratulations, Paul, on this well-deserved recognition.

What a wonderful review from a recent visitor 🤩

"A few weeks ago my husband and I visited Fullers Mill while on holiday. It was a fabulous experience for us both. There is a wonderful relaxed atmosphere in the garden, helped along by delicious treats from the café whilst sitting outside!

Frankly, I’ve never seen so many beautiful plants, most of which I’d never seen before and certainly couldn’t name! Walking around the garden made for a very enjoyable and memorable day out. Congratulations to all the staff and volunteers who’ve created such a marvellous garden."

Thank you to everyone who helps make Fullers Mill such a special place, from our garden team and volunteers to the visitors who take the time to share such kind words.

There’s always so much to spot at Fullers Mill, from beautiful planting to the wildlife that calls the garden home 🌿

From bees, damselflies and the broad-bordered bee hawk-moth to gadwall, grey wagtail, heron, pheasant, robin, otter and more, the garden is home to a wonderful mix of wildlife.

Some are easy to spot, while others are gone in a moment, but they're all part of the life of the garden.
