Great to see so many bikes in our new cycle racks at Lukeswood Apple Day!
They're available every day for visitors arriving at Lukeswood by bike.
While the lovely autumn weather lasts why not cycle over to Lukeswood, park the bikes, and enjoy a picnic at one of our picnic tables?

It's Apple Day tomorrow! The weather forecast is good and we're looking forward to welcoming lots of people to Lukeswood from 2.00 to 5.00.
Please walk or cycle if you can (cyclists can make use of our new cycle racks!). Parking on site is very limited and is reserved for stall holders and disabled visitors. If you do park on Church Road please help us to keep on good terms with our lovely neighbours (don't block driveways or pavements) and take care when crossing this busy road.
Our eco loo will be open, so you can enjoy multiple cups of tea at the Trefoil Guild's refreshment tent (plus delicious cakes and snacks, of course) without wondering where to spend a penny.
Don't forget to bring some cash - some of our stall holders are cash only.

Teddy Bears' Picnic at Lukeswood Apple Day!

We're delighted that Jo Hammond, who has led lots of willow weaving courses for ElmsWild, will be at Lukeswood Apple Day on Saturday 26 September. Jo will be bringing a variety of her lovely willow creations for visitors to admire and buy - and if you feel inspired to have a go there will be an opportunity to make something yourself!

We're sorry to report that Lukeswood has been vandalised. Our pole barn, which has stood and been in use for 15 years, has been completely trashed.
We spent the morning clearing up and making the area safe.
It has been reported to the police. If anyone witnessed the event taking place or saw anything suspicious, please contact the police.
A shocking and very dispiriting setback, but we won't let it stop us - we're already planning for a replacement. And, of course, nothing will stop Apple Day! Saturday 26 September, 2.00-5.00. We'll be there and, even without our good old pole barn, it will be bigger and better than ever!

What a year for blackberries! The bushes at Lukeswood are loaded with luscious fruit, perfect for pies, crumbles, jams and jellies. Put some in the freezer for a lovely reminder of summer when winter arrives. Get yours now before the rains come and spoil them!

Tiny bee casts a long shadow!
When we put up our bee boxes in the orchard at Lukeswood we didn't expect the bees to move in so quickly!
These are solitary bees which don't live in a colony or have a queen. They lay their eggs in a cavity or hollow stem and then seal the end up. Our bee hotel is nearly full!
Although they don't make honey, they are very good pollinators, so fantastic to have in our orchard.
