Following receipt of several queries about RBL Branch and fundraising activity in Mildenhall, please note the following:
The Mildenhall & District Branch itself is not currently involved in any local fundraising, and is a separate entity to the national RBL Poppy Appeal, which is a national annual fund.
Please be aware that the Mildenhall & District Branch RBL is now governed by the county of Suffolk officers and, as such, is prorogued for the time being, in the hope and expectation that we have a fully functioning branch here again in the near future. Representatives for the Branch are currently only obliged to meet twice annually, which is a formality to retain the title. This means, as a branch, we are no longer in a position to raise funds for LOCAL use and, as always, all funds raised in the name of the RBL Poppy Appeal can only be added to the Central National Poppy Appeal Fund, charity number 219279. To re-iterate, The Mildenhall & District Branch itself is not currently involved in any local fundraising, and is a separate entity to the RBL Poppy Appeal, which is a national annual fund.
This year's national Poppy Appeal will run for 2 weeks from 30th October 2025, although other events are organised to add to this appeal throughout the year. Of course, donations may be made at any time throughout the year, the easiest way being by texting POPPY2 (£2), POPPY5 (£5) or POPPY10 (£10) to 70545 or please contact Helen Gower (via Facebook) or Marion Venables, the local organisers for the National Poppy Appeal. (Please refer to the Poppy Appeal FB page.)
Please watch this space - Mildenhall & Dstrict RBL - for news about the re-launch of Mildenhall & District Branch, when we will be looking for committee and branch members, as well as starting fund-raising for purely local needs.
