If you like us, please share us with your friends! Our Society was founded in 1902 “to educate the public in the dramatic and operatic arts, to further the development of public appreciation and role in the said arts.” We played an integral part in the restoration of the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds, which serves our unofficial home for all of our main stage productions. We are a diverse group of people from a wide range of backgrounds, who all share one common interest – providing high-quality, entertaining, live performances to the general public. These may come come in the form of musicals, operettas, concerts, straight plays or any other work of dramatic significance. Bury St Edmunds Operatic & Dramatic Society’ is formally recognised as The Bury St Edmunds Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society whose registered charity number is 278388
