🚨 NEW DOR & HEAD COACH ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

Mildenhall & Red Lodge RUFC are proud to officially welcome Des Lloyd as our new Director of Rugby & Head Coach ahead of the new season. πŸ¦…πŸ‰

Des joins the Eagles with a wealth of experience and knowledge of the game, and everyone at MRLRFC is excited to welcome him to the club ahead of the new season.

Most recently serving as Director of Rugby & Head Coach at Ely Tigers during the 2024/25 season, Des now begins a new chapter with MRLRFC β€” and we look forward to the journey ahead.

In Des’ own words:

Β«β€œRugby has always been a huge part of my life. From first picking up a rugby ball at 9 years old, the game has taken me on an incredible journey through many different levels as both a player and coach.

Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to work with some fantastic clubs and people, and one thing I’ve always believed in is helping each other grow the game. Clubs like Mildenhall and Red Lodge have always had that connection β€” supporting one another, helping with players, and keeping rugby strong in the local community. That relationship is something I’ve always respected.

After taking a year out from rugby for personal reasons, I’m genuinely excited to be back around the game again. During the 2024/25 season I had the privilege of being Director of Rugby and Head Coach at Ely Tigers, which was another important chapter in my rugby journey and one I’m proud of.

Rugby has taught me so much throughout my life β€” discipline, resilience, teamwork, and the importance of community. Whether playing, coaching, or supporting from the sidelines, the passion for the game has never left me.

Now, I’m looking forward to the new season ahead, reconnecting with people, building something positive, and continuing to help players and clubs develop both on and off the pitch.

Here’s to a strong season ahead, good rugby, good people, and plenty of memories to be made.”

What a celebration for the Eagles. β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ¦…

πŸ† Lifetime Achievement Award – Dalton Fleming

A massive thank you also goes to Chairman Allison Hart for organising such a brilliant evening, alongside the committee for all of their hard work behind the scenes throughout the year. The club only continues to grow because of people willing to put the effort in week after week.

A special mention must also go to our younger players. The commitment, attitude and passion coming through the squad is something everybody at the club should be proud of. You are the future of the Eagles and the future is looking bright.

Thank you as always to our sponsors for continuing to support grassroots rugby and standing behind the club. Your support genuinely makes a huge difference both on and off the pitch.

Most importantly, thank you to everybody who continues to represent, support and believe in this club.

The Eagles are building something special. πŸ¦…β€οΈπŸ–€
