Suffolk Day is coming up this Sunday, 21st June and it is the perfect time to celebrate all the wonderful things that make our amazing county unique.

This year's host town is Bury St Edmunds and there are a variety of events happening for all the family to enjoy, including the Suffolk Day Proclamation at the Athenaeum, the farmers market on Angel Hill, an organ recital at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, community celebrations in the Abbey Gardens and more.

Craig and Jonny from are embarking on a 36-hour non-stop walking challenge on Friday, 17th July. Their route will start at Holme-Next-The-Sea and take them to Knittshall Heath in Thetford (Peddars Way route) and finishing at the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds the next day.

The aim of the walk is to raise vital funds for a Youth Theatre programme which will open the door to creative opportunities for children.

“Singing is the next best medicine after laughing.” The Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds are running a brand new singing group 'Joyful Noise' between June and July. No previous experience or ability to read music is necessary, just go along and share your voice.

The sessions will run on Tuesdays on the dates below from 4pm-5:30pm in the Greene Room Bar or the Peter Hall Room.

Suffolk’s Armed Forces Day will be taking place on Saturday 27 June 2026 at the Kings Meadow Recreation Ground, Stowmarket, IP14 1PR from 11:00am–3:00pm. A free family friendly day with ceremonial elements and community activities.

The event will have a wide range of organisations and representatives from the armed forces community, including serving personnel, demonstrations from local cadet forces as well as armed forces charities SSAFA, Royal British Legion, RAF Benevolent Fund, Army Benevolent Fund, Walking With The Wounded, and Help for Heroes.

Come along between 10am and 2pm, The Key Cafe, St Margaret's Street, Ipswich

What you can expect from the day:
You will have the chance to try out the latest equipment and technology which is specifically designed for people with a visual impairment.

We will be joined by some of the UK’s leading suppliers who will provide live demonstrations of magnifiers, screen readers, daily living aids and lamps. Participants can experience first-hand how these tools can enhance their independence.

The event is suitable for someone with a visual impairment, if you are a family member, carer or friend of someone with sight loss, or are a low vision specialist.

This is a free event, and the location is fully accessible. We do hope you can join us, please share with anyone who may benefit.
