Bradfield woods is a working wood that is unique as it has been under continuous traditional coppice management since 1252, fulfilling local needs for firewood and hazel products. Coppicing is a traditional method of woodland management where stems are cut at ground level promoting vigorous re-growth. Some Ash coppice stools in Bradifeld Wood are thought to be over 1000 years old. Suffolk Wildlife

Trust began in 1961 with a group of naturalists concerned about the future of Redgrave & Lopham Fen. Since then the Trust has gone from strength to strength and today is proud to be the county’s leading conservation organisation. Our nature reserves are open for you to enjoy and explore whenever you wish. There is no charge - instead we ask you to help us maintain them by becoming a member of Suffolk Wildlife Trust. Action for local wildlife, led by local people has always been Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s great strength. Our vision for a Living Landscape for Suffolk is a 21st century approach to nature conservation, firmly grounded in our ethos of enabling people to take action for wildlife where they live. 🌿Open Studios at Bradfield Woods🌿
Bradfield Woods Arts and Craft Group is a collective of artists and makers inspired by the rich history and traditions and beautiful landscape of Bradfield Woods.
The Group was formed in the mid-1990’s by students who came on woodland craft courses at Bradfield and wanted to keep practising the skills they had learnt.

The group includes Green Woodworkers, who make everyday items for the home and garden using freshly-felled, “green” or unseasoned timber; textile artists and makers, and painters and print-makers who use several different media.

This year, the group are participating in

Bradfield Woods Arts and Crafts Group’s amazing woodland studio will be open to the public from 11:00 to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday 6th and 7th June, and again on 13th, 14th June. There will be craft demonstrations and work for sale and, of course, a chance to witness first-hand the “creative chaos” of artists and makers at work.

As a thank you to Suffolk Wildlife Trust for the help and support received over many years, some members of the group will be donating a portion of the proceeds of sales they make during Open Studios to SWT.
