Merry Christmas from the Team! And a special thank you to for their kind donation of Santa's Grotto for the morning!

Santa and one of his elves came to Burton On Trent Child Contact Centre this morning! Every child received a present and all the non resident parents got a picture with their child and Santa 🎄🎅

Christmas is a time for family and togetherness, and we understand that it's difficult for families going through separation - which is why we're open today, and next Saturday (27th December) for children to see the family they don't live with 👨‍👧‍👦👩‍👧‍👦

A lot of parents are unsure what the difference is between supervised and supported contact — and honestly, it can be confusing if you’ve never used a contact centre before. You might see the terms used online or in court documents and wonder what they actually mean for you and your child.

At our centre, we provide supported contact. That means our volunteers are present, friendly, and always around to help — but they’re not sitting with you, taking notes, or observing your every move. Supported contact is all about giving families a calm, relaxed space to reconnect while still having volunteers nearby if you need us.

Supervised contact, on the other hand, looks quite different, and involves close monitoring and recording of each session. That level of oversight isn’t needed for most families, which is why supported contact is often the first step in building confidence, consistency, and really positive experiences for children.

We hope this little guide helps clear things up — and as always, if you’re unsure which type of contact is right for your family, we’re more than happy to chat and point you in the right direction 😊

There are so many misconceptions about contact centres, and we hear new ones all the time. If you’ve never used a centre before, it’s easy to feel unsure about what it all actually means — or to worry that it reflects badly on you as a parent.

The truth is, most of the worries we hear come from myths that get passed around online or through word of mouth. So we wanted to clear a few of them up with this simple ‘Myths vs Facts’ guide part 1💛

Lots of families use contact centres for all sorts of reasons — needing a neutral space, wanting stability during early transitions, or just having somewhere child-friendly to spend time together. It’s not about judgment, and it definitely isn’t a sign that you’ve done something wrong.

Our volunteers are there to support you, help you settle in, and make the environment feel calm, warm and relaxed — not to monitor, assess or sit watching over your shoulder. Your time with your child is your time. We’re just nearby if you need anything.

If you ever feel unsure about how contact works, what your sessions might look like, or what to expect on your first visit, please just ask. We’re always happy to chat and make the whole process feel a little less daunting 😊💛

💙 Why choose a contact centre?
Because it’s not just about a handover – it’s about creating a safe, welcoming space where children can enjoy time with both parents.

✨ At our centre:
✔ Children feel comfortable with toys and activities.
✔ Parents avoid stressful interactions.
✔ Volunteers are always nearby to help.

Our goal is simple – to put the child’s wellbeing first while helping families build happy, positive connections. 🌈
