If you want to keep up to date about the risks of the proposed warehouse development in Burton Latimer you should join the page and tell your friends and family to do the same...

Its a big number

The developers of Burton Wold have revealed that the construction of the proposed buildings alone would generate 147,000,000 Kg of CO2 (carbon dioxide).

In our initial opposition document to the council we had estimated 20,500,000 Kg. So we were wrong, we had significantly underestimated the appalling amount of green house gases generated by the development.

The reality is that the site - just creating the buildings and not including the roads etc and not including the huge increase due to the 12,000+ vehicle movements per day is 7 times greater than our worst fears.

The developers says that this is a, "significant contribution towards climate change. This will be compounded by the operational emissions that are yet to be determined".

**URGENT UPDATE ON BURTON WOLD WAREHOUSE PROPOSAL**

Last night about 20 residents attended the Burton Latimer Town Council planning meeting that had a debate about the Environmental Impact Assessment Scoping Document as the main priority of the evening and I believe most of us were shocked and disappointed…

The chair commenced by complaining that NNC hadn’t sent the town council an email telling them about the EIA document (It would appear that not one of our councillors or officers monitor the planning portal for updates) and said that information had “leaked out” (Someone informed them a few days ago that it had been on the planning portal since October 15th!)

The chair then admitted to not being able to read the online planning documents very well so had sent an email to NNC demanding a hard copy (of the 134-page document) for every member of the committee. (Even if this could be done before the closing date of November 19th it is not the most environmentally responsible solution)

When challenged it turned out that despite this being the main topic of the meeting, and the fact that this had been advertised on social media inviting public attendance, NOT ONE OF THE PLANNING COMMITTEE HAD READ THE DOCUMENT.

Despite this, a response was presented by the chair and approval nodded by other councillors even though it was referring to the old masterplan rather than the current EIA document! (Fortunately, the public attendees had something to say on this and it will be updated)

It was also notable that not one of our NNC ward councillors was in attendance despite their commitment to opposing the KEP proposal in the recent byelection

If we want our opposition to this development to be heard it is US THE PEOPLE that need to have our voices heard as it appears that we cannot rely on our current elected representatives.

Please follow the Landscape not Industrial Estate page to keep up to date with people who genuinely care about this issue and want to act swiftly to ensure the warehouses are stopped

Further posts will be coming with links to the planning portal and suggested wording for opposition to help with your support of this.

The Burton Wold Warehouse Project (Kettering Energy Park) has its first planning application in and the decision on it will be made on 19/11/24... so not long to have our say!

IT NEEDS TO BE ENGAGED WITH TO REDUCE THE RISK OF THIS MASSIVE WAREHOUSE PARK BEING BUILT. PLEASE READ ON...

This first one is an attempt by the developer to limit what gets assessed as environmental impact. It was submitted on 15/11/24 and it would appear that our local councillors are not aware of it. This is particularly disappointing as the recently elected NNC councillor stood on a platform of opposing this development and could have been expected to be keeping an eye on this type of application.

It’s important for as many people to request the planning authority for more analysis to be done especially as the developer is trying to exclude so many things from the Environmental Impact
Assessment. (See section 1.8 of the masterplan for further details) but the list below gives the headlines:

Topics Proposed to be Scoped Out (as per Section 15. EIA Report https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2017/571/regulation/15 )
A.1 Agricultural Land/Soils
A.2 Ecology
A.3 Flood Risk and Drainage
A.4 Ground Conditions

The link below will take you to the application (You have to accept the conditions)

https://www.kettering.gov.uk/planningApplication/134060

Click on the “Comment on this application” button and follow the instructions

Failure to engage at this point will take a lot of the concerns about this application out of scope which could allow this warehouse development to be built

Please share this (from my original post) on your feed so as many people as possible are informed…
