If anyone has any suggestions for our friends at Ilkeston Brass for a new local home for their band, please do message them.

Brass bands provide music tuition, instruments and social connection in their local communities but they do need a base with storage for all the equipment involved.

🎺 HELP ILKESTON BRASS FIND A NEW HOME 🎺

Ilkeston Brass has recently been informed that we must vacate our current bandroom at very short notice, as the building is due to be demolished because ongoing upkeep is no longer financially viable.

While finding somewhere to rehearse is relatively straightforward, finding a secure home for everything that makes a brass band possible is a much bigger challenge.

Over many years, the band has built up a substantial library of music, a full set of percussion equipment, and a stock of instruments used to support new and returning players. Without suitable storage, we face the heartbreaking prospect of having to dispose of or sell assets that are vital to the future of the band.

These instruments allow beginners to start learning without the expense of purchasing their own, and our percussion equipment and music library are essential for performances throughout the year. Losing them would have a significant impact on what we can offer the community.

We are therefore appealing to the people and businesses of Ilkeston and the surrounding area:

🏠 Do you know of any premises that could accommodate a weekly rehearsal and provide secure storage?

🏒 Are you a local business with unused warehouse, office, industrial, church, community, or retail space that might be suitable?

🀝 Would your business be interested in supporting a community brass band that has been part of local life for many years?

Every suggestion, share, and conversation could help us find a solution.

Please comment below, send us a private message, or contact the band directly if you think you may be able to help.

Thank you for your support in helping keep live brass band music alive in our community.

πŸ“£πŸ†BAND NEWS!!πŸ†πŸ“£

πŸ† At last weekends concert Gwen Woolley was presented with the Frederick Straw memorial trophy. Gwen has done over 30 years of dedicated service to the band. Spending a lot of that time as the heart and soul of our beginners group. Gwen has taught countless beginners (young and old!) with roughly a quarter of the current band having been taught at some point by Gwen. Thank you Gwen

πŸ“£ We also had the first appearance of our new compare / master of ceremonies Andrew Legge! Andrew was absolutely fantastic at the concert last weekend, entertaining the audience with his humour. He brought the whole concert together perfectly. Thank you Andrew and we hope you will join us in many more concerts to come.

Thank you to everyone who came in to see us today as part of the Burton Joyce Garage Safari and bought from the stalls we had out. All money made is going to the band for us to put towards new music and instrument maintenance so thank you all. This allows us to continue doing what we do making and teaching music.

Lots of people came and had a go on an instrument which was amazing to see. There is definitely some hidden talents in Burton Joyce!!! If you enjoyed it please do feel free to pop in and see us on a practice night. Every Tuesday 7pm - 9pm and Friday from 6:30pm.

We have a busy weekend ahead!

🎬🎢 - This evening 16th May at 7pm is our Concert in Burton Joyce Village Hall with music from stage and screen

πŸ’°πŸ¦- Tomorrow 17th May we will be taking part in the Burton Joyce Garage Safari Sale organised by Burton Joyce Primary School PTA. We will be based in and around the Carnarvon Rooms, Burton Joyce, NG14 5DP and will have loads on offer!

⭐️ A very well stocked stall, with donations from our band members

🍰 Refreshments (including homemade cakes, trust us when we say they are good! πŸ˜‹)

🎺 We will also have a selection of instruments that anyone can have a go on! We are a community band that above all play for fun and enjoyment. Our door is always open for anyone wanting to either get back into playing or starting to learn. Our current age range of band members is 6 - 80+ so age is no barrier!!

We are a charitable organisation so rely on income to keep doing what we do, playing music and teaching music. So all proceeds from the garage sale will be going straight into the band. So please do come along and join us, we would love to see you! ☺️
