📢 Spread the word! Our Craft Destash Sale is happening Saturday 25 July — FREE entry, 40+ tables of crafty supplies & Pembrey & Burry Port WI selling cakes and refreshments.

🅿️ If you’re visiting our Destash Sale, please be mindful of where you park. The Gwenllian has a car park and an overflow car park available. We would kindly ask that you do not park out on the road, as this is a residential area — thank you for your consideration! 🙏

Oh, how posh we all look in our hats and finery! We do love dressing up for the fabulous Ladies Day afternoon organised by Ferryside WI. Congratulations and many thanks to their members who worked so hard to make this a great success in raising funds for Latch, the children's cancer charity. We are looking forward to next year already.

Over 40,000 cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals in the UK each year, and defibrillators can significantly increase the chance of survival, but only if they’re working.

This week is Check Your Defib Week, and we’re encouraging all defib Guardians to ensure their device is working and accurately listed on The Circuit. It could help save lives.

Not a defib Guardian? You can still take part in Check Your Defib Week by downloading our Defibrillator (AED) guide. It's full of practical information to help you raise awareness on the importance of defibrillators (AEDs) and includes clear, accessible guidance on AEDs and offers many ways for WI members to get involved to make a lifesaving difference.

You can find it here: https://mywi.thewi.org.uk/public-affairs-and-campaigns/news-and-actions/new-bystanders-can-be-lifesavers-defibrillator-aed-resource-guide

Our Pembrey and Burry Port WI Crafters made some lovely padded coat hangers this month. The project took plenty of pins and patience, but the ladies did a beautiful job and surpassed themselves with excellent sewing.

As Volunteers’ Week draws to a close, we want to celebrate all of us in the WI who give so much of our time to others. To those that serve on a committee, make tea and cakes, organise events, give lifts, run classes, enter competitions and much more, we say “Thank You” for the hours given so generously. We couldn’t do it without you!

June is the Month of Community 💚

It’s a chance to celebrate the people that make our communities so special.

All across the UK, people are coming together to say thank you, meet neighbours, support good causes, welcome others in, reduce loneliness, celebrate volunteers, support carers, take action for nature and share food and friendship.

There are events and initiatives happening throughout June, with lots of different ways for you to get stuck in! Whether you join something big, do something small, or simply bring a few people together where you live, you’ll help build stronger, kinder and more connected communities.

Surprise!! We made the front cover. ☺️

It is finally here - our newly rebranded WI Magazine: and a new way to provide you deep-dives and longer interviews on all things NFWI.

Fittingly for a summer issue, we present 10 pages on beach life, and spotlight some wonderful coastal WIs. We've also got a new section where your questions are answered by a WI panel in 'WIsdom'; a piece on slow crafting; and all your favourites from recipes to campaign updates.

We really hope you enjoy your new magazine, and that you find it a great read for the summer!
