Transform Crafts

Transform Crafts Local craft shop in Burnley. Offering weekly craft classes and promoting Wellbeing through creativit

Transform Crafts is now a Community Interest Company based in the heart of Burnley in Lancashire providing a Creative Community Hub for the local community. We have a small shop selling handmade goods made by local crafters and artists, a boutique gallery putting on exhibitions and shows for students and local artists and a creative studio providing a range of crafts and art classes. Born as the R

eworked project as part of Lancashire Women's Centres back in 2012 the project has grown over the years and is still close to it's roots and continues to run weekly classes for vulnerable women and those who may suffer from isolation and mental health issues. The tutors and staff have also been involved in some great things, helping to design and upcycle the furniture for a charity shop, design the 30th birthday logo for LWC, creating room décor and table centre pieces for their birthday summer ball and helped to provide classes as part of LWC's Mindfit programme. We even came 4th in the Hynburn Christmas window competition back in 2015 and took part in voluntary arts week in 2016. The project grows from strength to strength each year and we are planning many more creative adventures in our new home.

Our Story

Transform Crafts is a Community Interest Company based in Burnley in Lancashire. We started our journey in March 2013 as a creative project for a local charity and embarked on our latest chapter as a stand alone Community Interest Company in October 2017

We are proud to have opened a shop to sell handmade goods made by local people. We started it off with some of our own creations including original art works, cards, jewellery, woven scarves and linen table wears to name a few things and are now pleased to say we have more than 10 local creative talents displaying and selling their works through us. Our shop and building have been designed to be the Creative Community Hub for the area. For locals to bring down their items and sell through us and to help give a heartbeat and sense of presences to the existing creative community of the area. We are also super thrilled that we will be selling some of the big brands in craft through our store too. Card making, stamping, embellishments, buttons and dies will all feature. In 2019 we built a website including online shop and blog at transformcrafts.com to help us grow our online offers further after having orders from France, Germany, America and the UK in 2018.

Teaching has always been at the heart of our project and on our 1st floor we are delivering a range of Craft and Art classes. We have kicked this off with the relaunch of our crafty Tuesday class transforming it into a Craft Club with memberships and rewards and it is still going strong today and gaining new members weekly. In 2018 we opened our doors to men too in our classes and added Card Making Techniques running every Thursday afternoon, Jan’s Writing Group meeting every Friday morning and new for 2019 Learning to use stamps and inks every Friday afternoon. We have also had to add a 2nd session on a Monday afternoon as the stamping class is so popular. Mixed Media happens on a Tuesday evening and Art Journalling starts in July on a Thursday evening. All these classes also collect rewards as part of our Craft Club. Beginners and veteran crafter's a like are all welcome to come down and join in any of our creative offers. Our course lists including silk painting, macrame(knotting), weaving and sewing are slotted in to our schedule too from time to time. Evening classes from 6-8pm feature and also private 1-2-1 and 2-2-1 Art Sessions in all things Painting and Drawing are available at times to suite.

We started out over 6 years ago as a project and have grown and learned and experimented expanded into what we are now. We are really looking forward to working with the widened local community and hope that our aim to make Transform Crafts the Creative Community Hub for Burnley and Lancashire will soon be a reality.
