South West Burnley Community Action Network (CAN) is inviting local residents to help decide how around £5,000 will be invested in the community.

Come along and hear local groups present their project ideas, then cast your vote for the projects you would most like to see funded.

⚽ World Cup 2026: Football Brings Us Together – But Let's Look Out for One Another 💜

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be the biggest tournament in history, with millions of people coming together to enjoy the excitement, passion and pride that football brings.

For many, match days will be filled with celebrations, family gatherings and shared memories. However, for some individuals and families, major sporting events can be a difficult and worrying time.

Research has shown that reports of domestic abuse can increase during major football tournaments, regardless of whether England win, draw or lose.

It's important to remember:

❌ Football does not cause domestic abuse.
✅ Responsibility always lies with the person choosing to use abusive behaviour.

As we enjoy the tournament this summer, let's also be mindful that not everyone experiences match days in the same way. A simple conversation, a check-in with a friend, colleague or neighbour, or knowing where to signpost someone for support could make a real difference.

👀 If someone seems anxious about match days, reluctant to go home, withdrawn or worried, they may need support more than they need football chat.

The King’s Trust Get Hired programme is a two-day opportunity designed to support young people aged 18–30 who are interested in starting a career in Health and Social Care but may be unsure where to begin.

The programme aims to open doors, build confidence, and connect participants directly with employers.

💼 What participants will gain:
Practical support to prepare for interviews
Guidance on how to stand out to employers
On-the-day screening interviews with Each Other Care, who have Care Assistant vacancies across Lancashire
Friendly, one-to-one support to help plan next steps, regardless of outcome

Want to better understand climate change and explore positive solutions with others in your community?

There are still a few spaces available for the next Climate Fresk session as part of the Climate Lab Pendle programme.

Climate Fresk is a collaborative and engaging workshop that uses a creative card game to help participants understand the science behind climate change, discuss emotions around the issue, and explore collective actions that can make a difference.
