We are very sorry to announce that due to the weather forecast of high wind gusts and rain for this Saturday we have made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel the Summer Fair.

We explored every possible alternative to keep the event running. Unfortunately, the combination of high wind gusts and rain means we are unable to use the inflatables, or protect stalls with gazebos. Most of our planned workshops are also unable to run as we are limited with indoor space available.

We are immensely grateful to all the incredible volunteers who contacted us to help with the event; we appreciate your support more than we can say.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated bottles for the tombola, as well as teddies, toys, and jars. Because the fair is cancelled, please note that we no longer need any further donations of these items at this time.

We had three incredible clubs confirmed to attend the fair, and they put so much effort into planning their sessions. We are very grateful for their support:
• Hurstpierpoint Gymnastics Club
• Create Space Studios
• Sussex Skate Club

We are officially hunting for stock for some of our most popular stalls! 🎪👀 If you can contribute, we are looking for:

🧸 Toys & Teddies: Must be complete and in good condition.
🍾 Bottles: For our ever-popular Bottle Tombola.
🍬 Jars of Goodies: Filled jars of goodies for the Jar Stall.

📅 Drop-off Schedule:

🧸 Toys & Teddies: Please place these in the uniform boxes located by the office reception at any point during the week leading up to the fair (Monday 1st June – Friday 5th June).
🍬 Bottles and Jars: Please bring these with you to school drop-off on Friday 5th June.

We are planning a fantastic fair for Saturday 6 June, but we are drastically short on volunteers. The sheer scale and the very existence of the fair depend on you.

We need help with set-up (9:30 am), running stalls/BBQ/bar (11 am – 2 pm), and clean-up (2 pm). You can even run your own family or business stall!

📢 Important Notice – Summer Fair Cancellation

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’re very sorry to inform you that this year’s Summer Fair has been cancelled.

The decision hasn’t been taken lightly. The poor weather forecast would usually mean moving the event indoors, but sadly we've also had a severe lack of volunteer support, making even a smaller-scale event impossible to run safely and effectively.

This is especially disappointing as the Summer Fair is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and the funds raised directly benefit every child at St Wilfrid’s. Unfortunately, without the expected income, we’ll be unable to meet some of our planned commitments for the school.

We do hope to organise other events in the future, but we will need far greater support from parents and carers to make them possible.

We'd like to send a HUGE thank you to the parents and carers that did come forward and who have already put in such a big effort to contribute towards the fair. Also a huge thanks to our committee who often work late into the evening organising and communicating with vendors. This often goes unmentioned and unnoticed.

*THE NON UNIFORM DAY IS STILL GOING AHEAD* We are asking for parents to make a cash donation at the gates at drop off on the morning of Friday 6th June. Please do not send bottled or jars for this. Thank you
