🌟 **Why Ferriers Barn Matters – Please Nominate Us!** 🌟

For over 50 years, Ferriers Barn has been providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive place for adults with disabilities from across Essex and Suffolk. We offer friendship, activities, independence, life skills and vital respite for families and carers.

With over 35 members attending more than 60 sessions each week, Ferriers Barn is much more than a day centre – it's a community, a support network and a second home for many of the people we support.

Grassroots Gardening Services - Essex

🌿 A Huge Thank You to Grassroots Gardening Services! 🌿

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Grassroots Gardening Services for giving up over three hours of their time completely free of charge to help transform the grounds at Ferriers Barn.

Despite the rain, Charlie, Johnny and Fenton worked tirelessly cutting back overgrown areas, strimming, weeding and generally helping to make our outdoor spaces look so much tidier and more welcoming for our members.

As a small charity, support like this makes a real difference. Not only have they saved us valuable funds, but they have also helped create a safer and more enjoyable environment for the adults with disabilities who attend Ferriers Barn.

Your kindness, hard work and community spirit have not gone unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you have done.

Thank you Charlie, Johnny and Fenton – you are absolute stars! ⭐⭐⭐

🎉 We Did It – Thank You! 🎉

We are absolutely delighted to share that Ferriers Barn has been awarded £5,000 through the Benefact Group Movement for Good Awards!

This incredible funding will make a real difference to the adults with disabilities who attend Ferriers Barn, helping us continue to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive place where friendships flourish, confidence grows and everyone can enjoy meaningful activities.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate and vote for us. Every nomination helped give us the chance of receiving this amazing award, and we are so grateful for the support from our members, families, volunteers, staff and the wider community.

As a small charity, funding like this has a significant impact and helps us continue delivering the services that mean so much to our members and their families.

Ferriers Barn Limited has today accredited as a Living Wage Employer. Their Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Ferriers Barn receive a minimum hourly wage of £13.45 in the UK, higher than the government minimum for over 21s, which currently stands at £12.71 per hour.

Ferriers Barn is based in the East of England, a region where over 14.3% of jobs pay less than the real Living Wage - 370,000 jobs. Despite this, Ferriers Barn has committed to pay the real Living Wage and provide a decent standard of living for all their workers.

The Living Wage Foundation’s real Living Wage remains the only UK wage rate independently calculated based on the cost of living, rising annually based on living costs. It gives employers
the confidence they are paying a wage that meets everyday needs, not just the government minimum. Over 16,000 accredited employers have secured over £4.1 billion of pay rises for low paid workers since 2011 and made a profound difference to millions of lives around the UK.

We are proud to be a part of this, Ferriers Barn would not be the wonderful place it is without our dedicated staff.
