Founded on 22/09/1959 to train & support lifeguards for local beaches. We provide ocean lifesaving coaching to members age 7+ Nippers (aged 7-13)
Younger members learn about the sea and beach environment, becoming familiar with different types of waves, tides and rip currents to allow them to assess risk and stay safe. They start to develop general firstβaid, lifesaving techniques and learn about
lifeguard flags and signals. Juniors (aged 13-18)
As they get older, members build on these skills, many of them achieving the coveted Surf Lifeguard award from the age of 16. This award is an internationally recognized standard for beach lifeguards worldwide. Many RNLI lifeguards on our beaches are graduates of their local Surf Lifesaving club. Seniors (18+)
Adult members provide the coaching and water safety support needed to run the training sessions, on a volunteer basis. They also organize fundraising needed to purchase and maintain the equipment essential to the operation of the club. In addition to the training and athletic activities of the club we operate volunteer lifeguard patrols throughout the year to ensure the safety of the local community and visitors.
