We are back this Friday for another fun filled session.

Waves look chunky with a dropping tide so we will be keeping the beginners tight to the shore and with the intermediates please be mindful that it might not be the best session for those looking to transition from beginners to intermediate tomorrow night.

We will be running our beginners session from 6-7pm and the intermediate session from 7-8pm. Beginners are meeting at the car park in Summerleaze from 5.30-5.45pm with wetsuits and foam boards for beginners and 6.30pm for intermediate group surfers with hard boards. If you don’t have your own equipment then these can be hired from Zuma Jay or The Cabin.
Don’t forget your £1 cost per session. All surfers must be members of the club.

If your child is unsure then they can come down to watch a session or have a trail by signing the waiver before becoming a member. Those who have already trialed will be expected to have joined BWRC via the link in the bio before checking in at the trailer for this session.
If you have not yet downloaded Spond then please do so and DM us on Facebook to receive our code to Join the BWRC Spond page. You can then confirm attendance to sessions and as Head Coach I can ensure our volunteer coach’s match our ratios.

Good morning,
With large swell and a tricky low tide conditions tomorrow evening we are going to take our training session into the sea pool for a boards skills and some basic rescue techniques.
The tide will not be high enough to run our intermediate session safely however with the beginners all ready to learn, we thought that if any Intermediate surfers want to assist in coaching the beginners then we would love to have them join in. We will only be running one session tomorrow for anyone interested from 6-7pm in the sea pool.
Please meet at the trailer with your foam boards for a 5.30pm registration. Don’t forget your £1. For those yet to join the club wanting to have a trial session, may I suggest waiting till our next surf session to take your trial

I have checked high tide this morning and sadly in Summerlease the waves are to small to ride for either of our groups. We have decided to cancel training.

Hi there,
we’re super stoked to let you know about the launch of our 2026 Women & Girls in Coaching series! This initiative is designed to support more women and girls into coaching roles within surfing. Surfing England are offering 10 places for women and girls to qualify as surf coaches, fully funded by the FatFace Foundation. Funding will cover the cost of lifeguard qualifications, plus surf instructor training, with the aim of removing financial barriers to qualification.

This cohort of female coaches will then go back to their surf clubs and local communities as inspirational role models, to share their knowledge and skills and pass on the stoke. With this series, we’re aiming to get more women and girls feeling confident to lead and teach others in the water, and to contribute to making the lineup a safer, fairer place for all.
Please share this opportunity with all the women and girls in your surf club! We will consider all applications carefully, and we’re committed to making this series as inclusive and accessible as possible.
Course structure:

- Trainees will complete their lifeguard qualification, once agreed with us, with a provider local to them (applicants who already have their beach lifeguard qualifications must have at least 6 months remaining on their certificate)
- Trainees will complete the theory section of their surf instructor course online (around 10 hours of self-study), and then shadow lessons and complete their in-water assessment when ready, with a Surfing England-accredited Trainer Assessor local to them
- We will create a cohort WhatsApp group for everyone to join, where trainees can share their experiences, and where we can offer advice, support and monitor everyone’s progress through the course
- There will be a group meet-up to celebrate completion of the course, with opportunities to surf together, share coaching experiences and discuss future coaching plans and goals All applicants must be:

- At least 16 years old
- Able to pass their RLSS/SLSGB swim test (400m in 8 minutes or less), or already hold a valid surf lifesaving or beach lifeguard qualification
- Willing to fully commit to completing their lifeguard and coaching qualifications by the end of September 2026

It’s time to open applications to join the Budewaveriders Advanced Development Squad! 🌊

Are you passionate about surfing and ready to take your skills to the next level? The Bude Wave Rider Elite Academy is looking for dedicated young surfers (ages 10-18) who are eager to train, progress, and push their limits in surfing.

With a new format this year, Surfers will receive 2 sessions per month from former WQS shredder and big wave charger who will be specifically looking at competitive surfing heat strategies and two sessions from the incredible local surfer who will be looking at fundamentals. Alongside the surf sessions, Jezz at will be delivering 2 sessions a month on surf fitness.

We will be creating two groups based around age and ability. Each group will be capped to ensure surfers get specific feedback. Their surf sessions with each coach will alternate on a weekly basis. Attendance to the sessions is also essential and if surfers do not show commitment to the sessions they will relinquish their space for any surfers placed on the reserve list. Cost will be £40 per month.

First event at Bells, Beach kicks off very soon in four days time.
Have you popped into Bude SurfCabin and entered their incredible fantasy Surf league?

We are stoked to announce our charity partnership with Bude SurfCabin in running the 2026 WSL Fantasy Surfer Competition with amazing prizes for each event and overall winner getting a brand new custom Lost surfboard.
Please pop into the shop to register your name and pay just £5 if your a Budewaveriders member to be given the code to join the event.

TheCabin surf shop is running its own competition clubhouse in conjunction with the WSL online FantasySurfer 2026
Entry is just £10 or only £5 if a member!
(All proceeds will be going to a local charity)
This can be dropped at TheCabin or message me to sort payment. You’ll then be given the password to join the private clubhouse under (budesurfcabin) in the WSL app.
With x12 competition events on the tour, there will be some great prizes given out for each event winner.
There will also be a custom Lost Mayhem SURFBOARD of your choice which will come with a top end set of FCS2 fins, FCS pad and FCS leash courtesy of for the overall winner.
We do love a good trophy at TheCabin so there is an awesome bespoke one🏆 made of solid oak and resin by Brad Rochfort and up for the winner too.
