Well what a fabulous day we had Saturday for the Born to be Wild fundraiser. I want to say some massive thank you.’s To Nick at Crooklets Cafe for letting us hold it there. Leon Munkley who’s idea it was in the first place and did the disco, and he also plays the drums for the fabulous Modlites who where so supportive. Hubby Barry for everything he does , friends Sarah and Nora for helping man the stall and sell raffle tickets . All the wonderful local businesses and friends who supplied the raffle prizes. And not to forget all you lovely people who came down and supported . It was a fantastic day the sun shone , music was brilliant and we raised the amazing total of £372.60 😳

This morning I picked up this amazing little weasel. Only 26g in weight. He had been caught by a dog. Happily taking his first feed. Definitely very thirsty. So cute and very tiny.

This Saturday 22nd Aug at 1-30 till 3 the lovely Leon Munkley is doing a fundraiser for Born to be Wild , his One Love disco will be at Crooklets cafe .
I will be holding a raffle and would be very grateful for some prizes. I would love to get some vouchers from local Bude Businesses eg restaurants, pubs and shops . All proceeds will go to helping Bude Wildlife in my care x
The amazing Modlites will be playing from 3-5 and then Leon’s disco will carry on from 5-7 it’s going to be a long day. Please check out the poster and please share . Thank you in anticipation

Yesterday apart from the poor sparrow hawk it was a busy day for casualties. I also had a baby pigeon, a RTA Tawny owl with a head injury, that has came from a Barnstable vets for some R&R. A swallow again a very sad one it had a broken wing so sadly had to be put to sleep 😢 and a very large hedgehog. 🥴

Today I arranged for this beautiful sparrow hawk to be collected from Davidstowe , thank you to Simon Dolphin for collecting him. Sadly he had been hit by a car last night. After a full examination we decided to X-ray and sadly found a nasty break. This was not possible to fix so unfortunately we had to put it to sleep. 😢 It heartbreaking but we are so lucky to have vets here that will do all they can for our wildlife. Thanks to vet Richard Gale and nurses Rebecca, Nyha and new Jess for all your help. 😓

Yesterday we picked up this gorgeous young rare little dormouse. It had been found in a bottle recycling box cold and dehydrated, not very cosy at all 🥴.
It also had something in it eye which I safely removed.
I will be speaking to a dormouse expert today just to make sure I’m doing everything right for this special little one. As we have another heatwave expected I think it will be staying with me for a little while before releasing back home . Feeling honoured 🥰
