Gardening Task on Thursday

This week, we'll be doing something a bit different. Rob and Simon recently surveyed the bee orchids in the meadow at the back of the Tourist Information Centre and also found pyramidal and southern marsh orchids. These plants are in discrete areas with some concentrated patches of yellow rattle and the plan is to collect plenty of the yellow rattle seeds. Then, when the meadow is mown this autumn, the seed could be sown more widely. The rattle should suppress the areas of vigorous grass and aid the orchid population.

The orchids are beautiful and rare, so come along this week, if you'd like to see them and help to encourage their growth. You'll be able to admire the wild flower display in the area by the new pedestrian and cycle entrance as well - it's looking great.

Bring along a drink and snack as normal and we'll meet outside the TIC in the Crescent Car Park at 10.30am.

Bude Foe are supporting The Circular Mindset and The 2 Minute Foundation, helped by Sustainable Bude, who are hosting a screening of The People's Emergency Briefing.

The aim of the film is to bring together people in our community to hear the evidence on the climate and nature crisis in the UK and discuss how to respond - together.

Tickets are free but must be registered in advance to make sure we have enough seats and capacity is limited. Thank you

All are welcome to come along and garden or just pop by for a chat. If you'd like to talk to someone in the group beforehand to find out more, then please send us a message and one of the group will be in touch.

The weather forecast isn't looking great, so please check Facebook on Thursday morning, in case we have to cancel.

Hi Folks, an improving forecast means we can try again to w**d the fruit trees we planted at the top of Berries Avenue tomorrow.
The site is several 100m up from the community cafe in a large green park on the right and we'll meet there at 10.30am as usual. If you need clearer directions please contact me for details. I can offer lifts in from Stratton and top of town if needed, just let me know!

Please bring work gloves, w**ding tools if you have them, and a drink and snack for break time,

Thanks, Rob

Hi Folks, the main task tomorrow will be w**ding around the fruit trees at the top of Berries Avenue. However the forecast is not looking great for tomorrow so can we meet at the veg bed behind the Neetside Centre at 10'30am to assess the conditions and quickly sow some sweetpeas- at least we can shelter while deciding!
Lifts up to the top of Berries Avenue can be provided of course.

Please bring waterproofs and any gardening tools/gloves as usual, and bring a hot drink and snack, although a visit to the community cafe might well beckon!

Thanks, Rob
