"I am a semi-abstract natural world artist based in North Cornwall.

I make paintings of the land, with the land.

The ancient sites and abandoned industry relics that litter the Cornish landscape offer both inspiration and natural materials from which I create my abstract landscape paintings. I’m interested in the visual impact of what has been left behind, what is hidden, what will erode and what will remain indefinitely. Gathering earth pigments from chosen sites, I hand process paints to bring you a tangible connection to the place, telling a story and bringing the magic of this land to you."

"The company’s activities will provide benefit to:

◾Supporting our Local Communities by affording the best possible chances of survival and well-being, both physical and mental, for those in time-critical need, particularly in remote rural areas such as Bude and North Cornwall
◾Supporting the development and expansion of the local provision made by the Bude Community First Responders by providing enhanced equipment and resources, over and above that provided by the NHS, to enable our local Community First Responders to develop and expand their operational capabilities and react appropriately at any time, day or night, year round.
◾Recruiting and training more Volunteers as First Responders and more Volunteer Helpers within our local communities.
◾Facilitating sources of help and support for the physical and mental health, and well-being, of our Communities, and, that of our Bude Community First Responders, as by the very nature of the work they do, often exposed to traumatic and disturbing events, cannot be underestimated.

We are looking for volunteers to assist us in supporting this vital service at a time when the NHS Trust is over-stretched and cannot fund some of the work our volunteer local Community First Responders urgently need"

Member feature time: Bude Canal & Harbour Society 🤩

"Registered Charity no. 1086646

2023 marked 200 years since the start of trade on the 35.5 mile Bude Canal and since 2001 the Society’s Charity Trustees have dedicated themselves to its’ conservation, rejuvenation and restoration so everyone has access now and for future generations.

The Bude Canal is actually owned by Cornwall Council as are the Sea Lock, historic Sand Railway and Breakwater. The Society’s Trustees aim to ensure the Council are aware of the Canal’s importance and historic value.

The BCHS works with the Town Council to open the Barge Workshop at Helebridge on Sunday afternoons in the summer months and also attend events such as Heritage Day. A quarterly newsletter booklet keeps people informed throughout the year as does the website with its wealth of downloadable maps, surveyor’s notes, panels, and hundreds of regeneration photographs."

Why can saying “no” feel so difficult?

Sometimes we're worried about disappointing someone.

Sometimes we don't want to seem unhelpful.

Sometimes we're afraid people will be upset with us.

And sometimes we've simply become so used to saying yes that we don't even stop to ask ourselves whether we actually want to.

But saying no doesn't make you selfish.

It doesn't mean you don't care.

And it doesn't mean you're letting someone down.

Sometimes “no” is simply a boundary.

A way of protecting your time, your energy and your wellbeing.

And you don't always need a long explanation.

“No, I'm afraid I can't this time.”

Can be enough.

It’s been ten years since I delivered a Game Change (A Life Led Business) workshop in person. And while this is a short presentation, and not the full process, I am really looking forward to talking about my book again on Thursday at the Bude & Greater Area Chamber of Commerce. I even went full “Blue Peter” and created some cards!
