It’s Volunteers’ Week 2026 this week and Buckingham Wombles would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has both supported us and all of our wonderful Wombles that have been litter picking locally, whether solo Wombling in their local area, or at one of our group litter picks. It has been amazing to have seen the amount of litter that has been collected by our volunteers at each of our group litter picks – it definitely makes a difference when there are more of us. 💜
Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign that celebrates and recognise the contributions of volunteers. Launched in 1984, this initiative has been running for over 40 years, providing organisations and communities a platform to thank current and past volunteers for their invaluable efforts. 📅
The campaign highlights the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK. Volunteering may be something done on a regular basis or for a particular event, but whatever amount you can help, it all contributes to helping to making a difference. 🫶

A big thank you to all our wonderful Wombles that were out in today’s glorious sunshine to volunteer with us in getting litter picking around Buckingham Industrial Estate, its lovely surrounding footpath🌳 and Willow Park today. 🌞
Being able to cover all that area between us meant that there was as much as 25 bags of litter collected altogether👍. This includes four bags of recycling. This shall all be collected by Buckinghamshire Council. 🗑️
It was great to get to speak with various people about litter picking and volunteering with us while we were there also.

💜Buckingham Wombles had an excellent day bringing some Womble Love to the A413 between Buckingham and Winslow. 💜
🗑️Our wonderful volunteers met up with members of the Rotary Club of Buckinghamy this morning at Wipac Technology and got litter picking from there. 🗑️
The marvellous Rotary Club organised a minibus for the day that meant that different groups of us were able to get started litter picking at different points along the road.
More than thirty bags of litter (including four bags of recycling) were collected and were also transported and have been left at Padbury ready for collection by Buckinghamshire Council. Along with that, there was a large selection of larger items including car wheels, wheel rims and other car parts and traffic cones were also collected and have been put together for collection, both with the bags and at other points along the road. A large bag of drinks cans collected has been taken to help Cycle Saviours’ fundraising.
Winslow Wombles and Winslow Rotary Club also took part, starting litter picking from Winslow and helped to make sure that all of this part of the A413 was shown some Womble love.

Buckingham Wombles are really looking forward to tomorrow’s Litter Pick of the A413 with Buckingham Rotary Club! We can’t wait to see you all there!
Please meet us at Wipac Technology car park (parking shall be available there) at 10am Sunday morning.
It looks to be an excellent sunny day so please do ensure that you use sun cream. Some water shall be provided, but it would be a good idea to bring some with you also, please.

Buckingham Wombles’ next Group Litter Pick shall be all along the A413 from Buckingham to Winslow on Sunday the 26th of April
This is being done with the excellent help of Buckingham Rotary Club
