🎬 Friday 12th June – SONG SUNG BLUE 🎶

Join us at Blofield Court House for Song Sung Blue, a heartwarming musical drama inspired by the true story of Mike and Claire Sardina, a husband-and-wife duo who found unexpected success performing as a Neil Diamond tribute act.

Starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, this uplifting film follows two struggling musicians who meet through their shared love of music and create the tribute act Lightning & Thunder. As their popularity grows, so does their relationship, but fame brings challenges that test their resilience, dreams and commitment to one another.

Overview
The Roses is a 2025 satirical black comedy directed by Jay Roach. It is based on Warren Adler’s novel The War of the Roses and reimagines the 1989 film. It stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman as a couple whose “perfect” marriage starts to unravel. It was released in the UK and US on 29 August 2025.

Plot summary
Theo and Ivy Rose appear to have it all, but their relationship is already fraying beneath the surface. The film opens with the pair in counselling, where the session quickly turns into sharp, competitive sparring. As pressures build at home and work, small resentments turn into open hostility. The separation becomes a bitter battle, with each determined not to give ground, and the fallout spreads across their family and wider lives.

Themes
Marriage as a battleground: how affection can curdle into rivalry when respect collapses.
Pride and control: both partners digging in, even when it harms everyone around them.
Status and success: what happens when one person’s rise (or the other’s fall) shifts the balance in the relationship.[
Reception
Reception was mixed, with many critics praising the lead performances and the film’s sharp, biting humour, while others felt the tone and pacing could be uneven. It grossed around $52m worldwide.

All’s fair when love is war. THE ROSES, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Colman, Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Belinda Bromilow, Sunita Mani, Ncuti Gatw...
