π§πͺπ«π· BATTLEFIELD TOUR 2026π«π·π§πͺ
Cadets and staff from across Scotland & Northern Ireland Region Royal Air Force Air Cadets recently had the opportunity to travel to Belgium and France for an unforgettable battlefield tour, exploring the Commonwealth War Graves and Memorials and learning the stories of the First World War.
π§πͺ In Belgium, cadets visited key WWI sites gaining a deeper understanding of the conditions faced by those who served and the sacrifices made during the conflict.
π«π· The tour then continued into France, where the group spent a day exploring the Somme battlefield and Vimy Ridge, visiting significant sites and learning more about one of the most important campaigns of the First World War.
The trip concluded with a particularly moving experience at the Menin Gate in Ypres, where cadets and staff took part in the Last Post Ceremony. Standing among the names of thousands of Commonwealth servicemen who have no known grave was a powerful reminder of the human cost of war.
These experiences provide our cadets with the opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, connect with history and, most importantly, remember those who served and sacrificed for future generations.
A huge thank you to our tour guide, John from angliatours and our fantastic coach drivers, Craig and Billy from Temporal Travel, for helping make the trip possible. Their professionalism, knowledge, patience and support throughout the tour were greatly appreciated by both cadets and staff.
We will remember them.
