Tewkesbury Worcestershire Youth Regatta catch up!

A big well done to all our sailors at the Worcestershire Youth Regatta at Tewkesbury Sailing Club - some brilliant sailing and great fun - thanks to Tewkesbury SC and volunteers for another fabulous day of coaching and racing.

Our next event will be the NSSA National Youth Regatta on the 20th to 24th July, at Downs Sailing Club on the Kent coast - sailing from the beach! There will be separate fleets for Toppers, ILCA/Laser and Handicap, as well as a Regatta fleet for less experienced sailors. It’ll be great to get lots of our sailors signed up!

SAVE THE DATE!!

Calling Worcestershire Youth Sailors! We’ll be heading to Downs Sailing Club on the Kent coast 20th-24th July, for the week-long National Youth Regatta - a fantastic location and not to be missed - check out these AMAZING photos from the last time the event was held there in 2014🤩

⛵️The National Youth Regatta is suitable for any of our club and Worcestershire Youth Series sailors. There will be separate fleets for Toppers, ILCA/Laser and Handicap, plus a Regatta fleet for less experienced sailors, generally those sailing away from their home waters for the first time. You’ll need to be aged 18 or under on 31st August 2026

⛵️Teams will be camping just a few minutes walk away from the sailing club. The team will be supervised and looked after by WYSA team managers, although parents are welcome to stay nearby and support (sailors can also stay offsite with parents if preferred). Food and drink is provided, and there is a programme of social events for sailors in the evenings

⛵️The National Youth Regatta is fantastic fun for sailors both on and off the water. If you would like to book, or have any questions, please email [email protected] - it will be fantastic to get lots of our Worcestershire sailors signed up!

Congratulations to our WYSA sailors for their performance at the first Regatta in the Worcestershire Youth Series, at Barnt Green Sailing Club on last Saturday🏆

Freddie & James (from Barnt Green SC) took Bronze in the main fleet in a double-hander, Freddie, Hamish, Benji & James took the medal for spinnaker sailing, while Poppy took the medal for confidence, tackling windy and gusty conditions in her first Regatta away from Upton Warren💨⛵️💨

The weather was challenging at times, with gusts upwards of 30 knots - when racing was suspended for part of the afternoon, volunteers and sailors made the most of it with wacky races instead😄Thanks to Barnt Green Sailing Club for sharing these amazing photos!

⛵️The series is a great way to improve your seamanship and racing skills, and have fun sailing with other young people. There are more WYS events planned for Trimpley (September 26th), Upton Warren (October 17th) and Redditch (October 31st)

⛵️Open to young sailors in and around Worcestershire, aged 18 & under, sailing at Stage 3 and above. Coaching in the morning and racing in the afternoon, with a Rookie fleet for those new to racing

⛵️Our Worcestershire Youth Series kicks off in less than a week, with the first event at Barnt Green Sailing Club on the 11th April

With coaching in the morning, racing in the afternoon, and a Rookie fleet for those still learning their racing skills, the brand new Worcestershire Youth Series is a great place to improve your skills - whatever your level. You’ll have fun on the water sailing with other young people, and make some great new friends along the way!

We've got future days planned for Tewkesbury (May 9th), Trimpley (September 26th), Upton Warren (October 17th) and Redditch (October 31st). The series is open to young sailors in and around Worcestershire, aged 18 & under, sailing at Stage 3 and above.
