Week One completed of The Fostering Network annual Foster Care Fortnight campaign, the UK’s biggest awareness initiative for fostering.

Are you aware?

Has it entered your conversations?

If not, why not?

As a foster family, we know fostering is not about being perfect. It is about being present. It is about creating stability, trust, encouragement and belonging for children who need it most.

Behind every child in care is a story that could change with the right support network around them. Foster carers provide more than a spare room. They provide consistency, guidance, resilience and hope during some of the most difficult moments in a young person’s life.

Foster Care Fortnight is also an important reminder that there remains a significant need for more foster carers across the UK, particularly for older children, sibling groups and vulnerable young people.

If you have ever wondered whether you could make a difference to a child’s life, take the first step and make that call to your local authority fostering team.

One conversation could change a life forever.

Do me a favour share long and wide, bring fostering into your conversation!

The Left Affect is Leading Britain to a Political and Economic Crossroads With Andy Burnham.

The debate is no longer simply about left versus right. It is about whether the balance between contribution and dependency has fundamentally broken down.

Millions of working people feel trapped. Taxes are rising. Housing is unaffordable. Public services are stretched. Yet many increasingly believe the reward for hard work is shrinking year after year.

The concern surrounding politicians such as Andy Burnham is not just ideology. It is the fear that Britain continues expanding state dependency without rebuilding the productive economy needed to sustain it.

This is where the conversation becomes uncomfortable.

A country cannot endlessly increase public spending while productivity stagnates. Eventually the people and businesses carrying the financial burden begin asking whether the system still works for them.

At the same time, Britain must absolutely protect genuinely vulnerable people. A civilised society should always support those who need help. But support and aspiration must exist together. If work, responsibility and ambition no longer feel worthwhile, social cohesion begins to fracture.

The real issue is not benefits alone. It is the wider failure to grow, and the failure to protect the British people from economic exploitation.

Britain does not need endless redistribution politics. It needs growth, productivity and leadership willing to tell the truth about the scale of reform required.

The next decade will be shaped by one defining question:

Can Britain rebuild a system where hard work, contribution and ambition are visibly rewarded again, while still protecting those genuinely in need?

Because if the public loses faith in that balance entirely, the consequences politically, economically and socially will be enormous.

I foresee the English Channel parting, and indigenous taxpaying Brit leaving the UK in their droves!

The left wing forced exodus is coming!

Successive governments over the last 30 years have presided over the demise and strategic demise of our Defence.

Surely this proves it’s time that not only is the Defence budget ring fenced, but it’s increased beyond 5%.

With over £90Billon floating about in the digital tax system unrecoverable because of computer says no related issues, it’s definitely time we had a competent government in charge.

So what can Labour do about it?

Some great news in the Fostering Care community.

Red tape being cut to potentially generate a huge impact on care 10,000 new places.

Children don’t thrive in institutions, they thrive with families ! This is a positive step to help them thrive.

✨ Big news for fostering!
Yesterday, FosterTalk were invited to the government launch of its new plan to reform the fostering sector. Minister for Children and Families, Josh MacAlister, set out an ambitious vision to create 10,000 new fostering places by the end of the next Parliament.

He spoke openly about trust and respect for foster carers, promising a future where carers are recognised and respected as central in the team around every child in care.

🌟 He also shared his aim for carers to be empowered to make day‑to‑day decisions for the children they care for and offered heartfelt thanks on behalf of the government and the country for the extraordinary work carers do.

His message was clear:
It’s time to transform the system for carers, just as carers transform children’s lives.

📣 A consultation and call for evidence will open today, running for six weeks. FosterTalk will be working closely with our members, advisory committee, and partners across the sector to ensure carers’ voices are heard loud and clear.
