We came with 1 aim, over 2 days and with 3 Provinces united... What happened next exceeded every expectation.

Freemason volunteers transformed the gardens and outdoor spaces at Acorns Children's Hospice in Worcester, creating areas that children and their families will enjoy throughout the summer and beyond.

The results speak for themselves.

Thank you to every volunteer who gave their time to support the 1-2-3 Project. Together, you have helped create something truly special.

Wythall Lodge No.5665: £2,000 Charity Donation

Wythall Lodge held a highly successful James Bond themed charity evening at The Regency Hotel in Solihull, raising an impressive £2,000 in support of Mary Stevens Hospice, the chosen charity of Worcestershire Grand Chapter. The evening brought together nearly 100 guests to enjoy all the glamour and excitement of a Bond night, while also supporting a very worthwhile cause.

Mary Stevens Hospice commented: “The donation will enable the provision of a new educational facility and resource, helping us to continue delivering exceptional care, supported by a strong educational foundation and ongoing advancements in practice and knowledge.”

W.Bro Matt Smallman (PPrGReg), a member of the Lodge of St John in Bedwardine No. 7458 and one of the founders of the newly consecrated Lodge of Direction No.10088, has secured a coveted ballot place in this years London Royal Parks Half Marathon in October and has set himself the ambitious challenge of completing the 13.1-mile course in under 1 hour and 45 minutes (a challenging time given he hasn't run this distance before!), and if this wasn't enough of a challenge Matt has also set himself the challenge of fundraising for the upcoming Worcester 2033 Festival and also the Masonic Charities Foundation.

Now a keen runner Matt, a once self professed couch potato, first discovered his passion for the sport after starting the Couch to 5K programme two years ago. Since then, he has become a regular participant at ParkRuns and competitive 10km races across the country whenever work, Masonic, and family commitments allow. Taking on the London Royal Parks Half Marathon is another exciting milestone in his running journey and an opportunity to support a charitable cause that is close to his heart.

Help support Matt raise as a much as he can for the Masonic Charities Foundation, by donating to his 'GiveTap fundraising page using the lick below:

A splendid day in London for six of our Worcestershire Provincial Stewards from 9142, who answered the call to assist with stewarding duties at the Quarterly Communication of the United Grand Lodge of England.

This was the first time Worcestershire had received an invite to which they represented the Province with pride, good humour, and impeccable service. The team helped ensure the smooth running of this important occasion while enjoying the fellowship that makes our Order so special.

Many thanks to all six Brethren for giving their time and effort—an excellent example of Provincial support in action. No doubt a few stories to share and hopefully this is one of many invites to show off the Worcestershire “Red” !

Steaming ahead to Coalville

The peripatetic Permanent Way Lodge no. 9951 enjoyed lunch on the Great Central Railway from Louchborough Central station, on this former main-line heritage railway, on Saturday 16th May.

Dining to an exceptional standard on the ‘Carolina’ dining train, the brethren along with partners (including former Head of Worcestershire Freemasons, Bob Vaughan) later headed over to nearby Coalville. Master of the Lodge, Paul Brinkworth, is also a member of Grace Dieu Lodge no. 2428 which meets in the impressive Coalville Masonic Hall, where a warm welcome and buffet supper was provided.

After the meeting, Tom Ingall of the Great Central Railway Trust - and a BBC reporter and presenter - gave a compelling presentation on the incredible work to restore the ‘missing link’ between the Great Central Railway (GCR) and the GCR North. This is a gap of just 500 yards removed by British Rail, a challenge which included reinstatement of a bridge over the Midland main line, repair of a bridge over the Grand Union Canal (both completed), as well as construction of a road bridge and viaduct to replace a missing embankment.

The alms collection raised £400, to go towards the reinstatement fund. An outstanding day! Brethren with the slightest interest in railways would be welcome to future meetings or as joining members!
