The Official Broadstairs Folk Week ® When Broadstairs turns into a living stage by the sea. This is primarily carried out Annually during a week long festival in the second week of August.

For folk lovers, dancers, families and seaside dreamers The object of the charity is to preserve and advance public education in the appreciation of English and Multicultural folk dance, song, and music and to promote the knowledge and practice of English and Multicultural folk dance, song, and music by means of dances, classes, lectures, demonstrations, and other like methods, in the town of Broadstairs and St Peter’s and the neighbouring towns and villages in the District of Thanet. more information can be found on our website www.broadstairsfolkweek.org.uk

A little heads-up for tonight, because we think quite a few of you would love this and we’d hate for you to miss it. There are only a few tickets left.

Richard Strange is bringing his solo show, An Accent Waiting to Happen, to the Tom Thumb Theatre in Margate: an evening of songs and stories from a life in music.

If you enjoyed Martin Barre at our Folk Week opening show, this might be another one for your diary. A different artist and a different kind of evening, but a chance to hear the songs and the stories behind them, up close in a tiny theatre.

We know plenty of you love discovering something a little out of the ordinary. If you see anything we should be sharing tell us. We want this to be a place for you all year round.

They’re finally heading out! Look out for your Broadstairs Folk Week zines in your postbox.

Thanks to everyone who’s supported this project and for your patience.

In 1976, 200 programmes went out carried by Morris dancers. Imogen says she might have to play the flute to get this lot out to you.

There’s something lovely about making a little piece of Folk Week for you to keep. Imogen’s painted and hand-stamped the covers, hand-bound each one with a top stitch, and tucked a few little surprises inside for you to discover.

Thanks to everyone who’s ordered one. There will only ever be 200 made. If you’d like one from the next handmade batch, heading out next week, now’s your chance. Link in stories.

We’ve released 50 early tickets at 2026 prices. They’re available for two weeks, or until they’re gone. You get your place in the crowd at this year’s price; as a charity, we get a head start on putting Folk Week together.

FOLK WEEK HIGHLIGHTS FILM IS HERE 🎻

How was this only a month ago?

For one glorious week, Broadstairs became a living stage, full of music, dancing in the streets, conga lines spilling out of pubs, and fiddlers leading the way.

From the Sailing Club singarounds to the electric atmosphere of Later at the Pav, it was a week packed with beautiful moments: late nights, familiar faces, and strangers who somehow became friends by the end of it all.

Adam Scales captured it brilliantly after getting in touch and offering to come down and make this film for us. Because it really is the people who make Broadstairs Folk Week what it is and we think Adam is a bit of a legend. 💛

Turn the sound up. Spot yourself. Feel a little emotional. We certainly did.

It’s like solving a Rubik’s cube... 🪗⚙️

During the height of the folk week, we caught up with Colin from the OBJs Morris Side inside an iconic seafront shelter to look at the intricate mechanics of his melodeon.

This small instrument is a brilliant metaphor for the festival itself.Broadstairs Folk Week brought 27 entirely unique Morris sides to our living stage.

While it operates as one massive, coordinated celebration of heritage, every single side brought its own distinct style, rhythm, and identity to our pavements.

What did you discover when Broadstairs turned into a living stage this year? 🗺️The shelters are less full of music today, but the cultural impact of this community remains.
