Broadhempston Village Hall

Broadhempston Village Hall This is the page for the new Village Hall in Broadhempston. A bright new day has dawned for The aim of this page is to:

1.

This is the information page for all news relating to the proposed new Village Hall. At the beginning of 2013, outline planning permission was granted for a new Village Hall and 6 affordable dwellings, in conjunction with Broadhempston Community Land Trust. Detailed planning permission is currently under review for the affordable dwellings, and the Village Hall project is moving rapidly ahead with

the funding application from the National Lottery. Having been accepted for National Lottery Funding in November 2012, the Village Hall team completed the Stage 2 application in February this year. By 6th June we expect to have feedback on whether we can proceed, including development funding allowing us to begin detailed work. All signs are very positive, and we are excited at the prospect of moving this project into reality within 2013! Keep our villagers and local area informed as to the progress of the funding and planning applications
2. Understand what YOU want from YOUR village hall
3. Give our villagers and neighbours the chance to voice their opinions and ideas about this exciting project
4. Advertise and welcome ideas for more local fundraising events

Can anyone please help with future jazz events at the Hall?

We’re looking for someone who can put in a few hours helping to make this regular village event keep on happening.

Tasks can include ..,

- helping with publicity (posters, leaflets, social media etc)
- helping set up the hall on the evening and clearing up after
- helping run the bar

There’s nothing very arduous, we just need occasional help to make sure we can keep putting on these increasingly popular events. Everything is voluntary and any profits we make, after paying the musicians, goes to the Hall.

We specially need help for our fifth anniversary gig which is on 18th September. It’s Simon Spillett, internationally renowned tenor sax player, who played at our first gig 5 years ago.

Please message me or comment on this post if you’re interested and I’ll get back to you.

Based in Exeter, these outstanding musicians have wide-ranging individual backgrounds in classical music, traditional jazz, rock, blues, country, ragtime and roots, all drawn together by the shared pleasure of playing gypsy jazz and hot swing.

The band has performed to critical acclaim at festivals such as Dart Music Festival, Upton Jazz, Bude Jazz, Jazz Jurassica, Budleigh Music Festival, and to sell-out audiences at numerous arts centres including Bridport, TCAT, Ilminster, Taunton CIC, jazz clubs and for three years running at The Royal Albert Hall's 'Verdi Italian Kitchen' for their prestigious Valentine's Day event.

They have built a reputation for their mix of ‘Hotclub’ favourites, jazz standards, soulful ballads, Latin swing, the occasional film theme and classical score! Toe-tapping rhythms and virtuoso melody lines combine in a performance with a verve and joy that makes this music irresistible.

Very simply, it’s just about having a really good time!

“We loved having you - absolutely brilliant performance!” Jazz Jurassica
“A great performance. We hope to have you to play again soon!” Tiverton Community Arts Theatre
“…a joyously uplifting afternoon at the Festival. We loved having you with us.” Budleigh Music Festival
“…this is a rare treat. This lot are magnificent.” Danny Gladstone, ‘The Glad’, London SE1.
