On Friday evening, members of our Scout section attended a Brass Monkeys camp at Overstone Scout Camp and Activity Centre. Camping is one of the core activities in Scouts, and it is a great opportunity for young people to get out of the house, hang out with friends, and have a unique experience that creates memories that last a lifetime. The weather may have been cold, but everyone had a fantastic experience. A massive thank you to our leaders, who gave their time to make the camp possible.

If you have a young person at home and would like them to join, or you have some time and would like to help support our group, send us an email to [email protected] or message us on Facebook, and we will provide more details on how to get involved.

🎲 BPS Saxons Explorers Take on the Monopoly Run in London! 🚇
This weekend our BPS Saxons Explorer Scouts headed to London to take part in the exciting Monopoly Run 2026 – a fast-paced challenge where teams race across the city solving clues and visiting locations inspired by the famous Monopoly board.

Working in small teams, our Explorers took on the challenge independently, planning their own routes, navigating the London Underground, and solving puzzles linking Monopoly locations to Tube stations and landmarks. It was a fantastic test of independence, teamwork, and problem-solving, as they worked out the most efficient way to move around one of the world’s busiest cities.

We were also joined by younger Scouts from Brixworth and Spratton, who travelled with their leaders to experience the event as well. It was great to see different sections coming together and sharing in the adventure.

Each team competes in a virtual game against five other teams from around the country. While we didn’t quite take the top spot this time, we finished in a very respectable placing for our first attempt – and gained plenty of experience along the way.

Most importantly, the day was packed with adventure, laughter, and learning as our young people grew more confident navigating London and making decisions as a team.

We can’t wait to take part again next year! 🎉

On Saturday, our Beaver and Cub sections went to the Sir John Lowther Centre to attend a Beaver and Cub Activity day. They joined over 500 Beavers and Cubs from across the county who all took part in a full day of activities! They participated in backwoods cooking, circus skills, axe throwing, air rifle shooting, and much more. Thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their time. And thank you to the county team who put the day together.

If you have a young person at home and would like them to join, or you have some time and want to help support our group, send us an email to [email protected] and we can provide more details on how to get involved.

⚜️We are looking for new volunteers to join our team. We currently need more volunteers to help run all three of our sections: Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts⚜️

You don’t need previous experience or to be an expert at tying knots and putting up tents. All you need is the willingness to give it a go. Our team has a wide variety of backgrounds, and all bring a different skillset to the group. Being a volunteer is incredibly rewarding, and anyone who joins will have the full support of the team.

We also have space in our Beaver section! If you have a young person, aged 6-8, and would like them to get involved, contact us today. Our Beaver group meets on Thursday evenings, 18:00-19:10 at The Brixworth Centre (near the Church). If you have a young person under 6, they can be added to our waiting list and offered a place when they are old enough.

If you are interested in joining our group either as a volunteer or to enrol your young person, please email: [email protected]

⚜️ Future Leaders Programme ⚜️

Continuous development for adult volunteers is one of the key principles of the Scouts organisation. As part of this commitment, the East Midlands region has created the Future Leaders Programme.

The Future Leaders Programme is a year-long course designed to further equip volunteers with the skills they need to take on volunteer management roles within the Scouting organisation and help shape the future of Scouts.

Brixworth and Scaldwell's very own James joined 13 other adult volunteers from across the East Midlands, acting as a representative for both our group and Northamptonshire Scouts.

It's a big year for the Scouting movement; three sections are celebrating milestone birthdays! It has been 110 years since the Cubs (ages 8-10) were founded, offering young people the chance to learn new skills and gain new life experiences both in the UK and around the world. Also, Beavers (ages 6-8) is celebrating its 40th birthday and Squirrels (ages 4-6), the newest section in the Scouting family, is celebrating its 5th birthday.

We currently have space in both our Beaver and Cub sections, so if you have a young person at home who might be interested in joining us or would like more information, please contact us at:

[email protected]

We also accept enquiries for those who may be too young to join our group. Should you wish for your young person to join, but they are under the age of entry, they can be added to our waiting list, and we will then offer them a place when they are old enough.

We are also looking for volunteers to join our incredible team. If you have some spare time and want to make a positive impact on future generations and on the wider community, please contact us via the email above.

Our BPS Saxons Explorers joined over 100 other Scouts and Explorers from across the district on this years annual “Star Trek” Night Hike.

A fun but tough orienteering and task challenge across 21km in the dusk and dark, it’s a special challenge. We’re really proud of our Explorers who entered this for the first time and made a good showing.

This is the view from base 7 on the Grand union canal just before Midnight.

How did you spend your Saturday evening?

The BPS Saxons Explorers would like to thank everyone who came and supported their first ever fundraising event - the pudding and quiz night! This was a great success and the leadership are really proud of our young people who worked hard to make the event happen.

Here, some of our explorers are hatching another diabolical double jeopardy round…
