Remember our beautiful red sails? Well, after many years of hard sailing they're in need of updating and we need your help!

The Pilgrim Heritage Sailing Foundation is the charity, run completely by volunteers, which strives every day to preserve and operate Pilgrim for future generations to enjoy. Whether its through concerts by our very own shanty band, the Brixham Pilgrims, through our public open days, outreach programs or heritage talks, our fundraising never rests!

Fundraising just doesn't work without the generosity of you, our supporters, so please, if you haven't done so already, think about making a contribution to our 'sails '26 project. A full suit of sails for Pilgrim costs over £50,000 and after many years of patching, some of ours are now on their last legs. You can help us by contributing either through our 'Go Fund Me' Campaign via the home page of our web site: https://pilgrimofbrixham.org.uk/ or directly via our dedicated sails 26 page here: https://pilgrimofbrixham.org.uk/product/pilgrim-sails26-donate/

Thank you for your support!

Feeling a need to connect with Brixham's Heritage? Announcing a Public Open Day aboard the oldest surviving sailing Trawler built right in the heart of the town in 1895 and still here today! Pilgrim of Brixham welcomes all aboard, free of charge, between 10:30 and 13:30 or 13:30 and 15:30 on Saturday 13th, on the Town/Heritage Pontoon (just nearby the Prince William pub!). Come and hear something of the history of this wonderful 'old lady of the seas', or just admire the skills of the fishermen of the town who used not only to sail these wonderful boats, but then trawled for fish much as the modern fleet does. See you there!

The Pilgrim Heritage Sailing Foundation, custodians of the oldest surviving sailing Trawler built in the town of Brixham, 'Pilgrim of Brixham' (1895), urgently seeks new volunteers to help us look after and operate this wonderful 'old lady of the seas'.

In particular, we need the following:

From an administration and management perspective, we're seeking a new (honorary, i.e. unpaid!) Company Secretary for our Charity, along with someone to manage and maintain our membership records (these could be the same person!).

At the other end of our needs spectrum, our regular skipper of many years is otherwise engaged this year, so if we're to manage any sailing activity at all in 2026, we urgently need the services of a Yachtmaster (at least Coastal) certified skipper, with additionally a commercial endorsement and preferably with experience of heritage sailing vessels. Whilst Pilgrim isn't commercially sailing this year, we looking for someone suitably qualified, who may be interested to help us with moving between Dartmouth and Brixham, local moves within Brixham harbour and potentially sailing at events like Brixham Heritage Regatta and possibly others throughout the season.

If either of these very different roles sound like something which would be of interest, or of you'd like more details, then please let us know via email at '[email protected]' or by dropping us a message with your contact details at 01803 858148.

Many thanks!
