Get involved by talking to friends or by being kind to yourself. Every action counts.

Have a look at the Mental Health Awareness website for more information on how to get involved and advice if you need support.

This Week is Deaf Awareness Week!

Let us reflect on the things we can do to make everyday spaces accessible.
For example:
- Use subtitles and write things down,
- Learn basic signs,
- Face the person you are speaking to,
- Be mindful in communication (speak clearly and at a natural pace).

This is a time to celebrate Deaf community and language.

🎉 This year, BDPON are hosting an (early) Disability Pride event celebration which we hope to turn into a yearly celebration as part of Disability Pride month in July (where there will be lots of other great Disability Pride events).

🌧 Last year we held an International Day of Disabled people event planning to turn this into an annual celebration however whilst we got great feedback, December is a difficult time to get out and about for lots of Disabled people.

🧭 We will be holding this event at City Hall as a central Bristol location on 20th June 2026, 10.30am - 4pm.

💜 We hope to see you there, even if only for part of the day, to talk about everything 'Access' in Bristol. We are twinning this event with Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People's 2026 Disability Pride event (link in comments below).

🔓 We will be working hard to make sure the event is as accessible as is possible. There are BSL versions of the poster and forms via QR codes on the poster and links below.

☎📞💻 You can sign up to updates for the day either by using the QR codes on the poster, links below, or getting in contact with BDEF via [email protected] or 0117 914 0528.
