Power cut today just as I started sewing the Gisella top by Ellie & Mac. 🙈😢

It’s so annoying because the top can look fine… until you lift the fabric and see loops, knots, and thread everywhere.
Usually, it’s something simple: threading, tension, the needle, the bobbin, lint, short thread tails, or the presser foot being up. Yes, that one happens too.
What do you check first when your machine starts doing this?

If your machine is skipping stitches, snagging, or just acting a little dramatic, 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲.

The size and type of needle you use isn’t random, it’s matched to the weight and density of your fabric. Too small, and it struggles to get through. Too big, and it can leave damage behind.

There’s actually a lot of tiny, precise engineering happening in that needle; how it forms stitches, how it moves with the thread, and it all works best when it’s paired with the right fabric.

When things feel off, this is one of the easiest fixes that makes a huge difference.
