10.30-12.30

Lama Jampa Thaye will be coming to Bristol to teach a new commentary composed by Karma Thinley Rinpoche on the Three Heaps Sutra.

The teaching will explain how the famous confession prayer to the Thirty-Five Buddhas is drawn from the Three Heaps Sutra, a central Mahayana text on purification, rejoicing, and dedication. Through this practical and inspiring commentary, participants will learn how this powerful practice helps purify negative karma and supports progress on the Buddhist path.

2.30-4.20 pm

In the afternoon, Lama Jampa will bestow the initiation of Vasudhara. Refuge and Bodhisattva vow will be given during the initiation. Send us a DM or email if you want to find out more.

Why do Buddhists meditate? Karma Thinley Rinpoche explains, in his book A Calm Place In The Storm, if one wishes to see a golden fish in a lotus pond where many bubbles, waves and turbid water obscure one’s vision, it is necessary for the water itself to become tranquil. It is only then that one can look into it to see the golden fish. Similarly, if one wishes to give rise to enlightenment, the disturbances caused by ordinary worldly thoughts and emotions that make enlightenment difficult to achieve, need to be conquered first. And also meditation is GOOD FOR U 😄

The day will be ideal for anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of the Buddhist path.

Do I have to be a Buddhist to come along? Nope! Anyone is welcome to come along to our centre. We have meditation classes for complete beginners and and we hold a summer and festive party that many invite their family and friends to. Our Sunday practice is where families and pets are especially welcome. You don’t have to agree with what you hear, questioning and exploring the teachings is part of the Buddhist tradition. Buddha encouraged people to examine the teachings for themselves and not accept them on blind faith. So come with questions and curiosity!
