Young carers from across Bristol and South Gloucestershire stepped away from the classroom today for a special Carers Week experience đź’™

Around 120 young carers, along with school staff and young carers leads, visited We The Curious and the SS Great Britain. The trips offered a chance to learn, explore and spend time together in a supportive environment.

For many young carers, opportunities like this are rare. Balancing school with caring responsibilities can impact time, wellbeing and access to activities – so days like this really matter.

A huge thank you to our partners for helping make this possible and creating such a welcoming experience.

It’s really important that young carers’ voices are part of the picture.

At our 13+ young carers group on Saturday, we were joined by our lovely volunteer Lesley, who led a brilliant session on how to make gardens hedgehog‑friendly and protect local wildlife.

Young carers also enjoyed a sunny walk to Kingsgate Park — a chance to get outdoors, relax and spend time together.

💚 A big thank you to Lesley and all our volunteers this — your time, energy and kindness make a real difference.

Have your say – young carers aged 16–25

The Big Future survey is now open and designed to hear directly from young carers about their experiences, plans and what support would help.

If you’re a young carer, or support someone who is, this is a great opportunity to make sure their voice is heard.

🗣️ Have your say about hospital experiences

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW) want to hear from young people about their experiences of hospital care, including both outpatient appointments and inpatient stays.

If you’ve ever been to hospital as a young person, your views can help improve services for others.

📝 You can share your experience using these surveys:

👉 Outpatient appointments:

👉 Inpatient stays:
